I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You can learn a lot from working there and make some good connections for getting your car fixed.

    Cons

employees are not a team and more focused on how much everyone else is making and not willing to work together to make things easier on each other as a whole.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

An important role in being a manager is to set standards for your employees to follow and to know what is expected of them individually and as a whole. this will also set the standards for working as a team and increase production, profit, and effectiveness.

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Employees get a good discount on most parts. Customer service is the key to O'Reilly's success. They drive it hard into their employees.

    Cons

There's a lot of "module" training but no real discussion on ASE certifications. Low pay for experienced and educated employees. They have a "key holder" position that is pretty much a way for them to get you to do more work for no raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If the employee is educated and experienced, pay them like they are. Toss out the "key holder" position. People shouldn't be opening and closing a store, handling all the cash, have override codes to change prices and pretty much be an assistant manager and only making $8.50 an hour.

I have been working at O'Reilly Auto Parts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They believe in an internal culture in which everyone is expected to work by, the culture set by the company is very straight forward and is basic common sense, the first company that I have ever worked for to actually have a culture that they live by. Honesty, Commitment, Courage, Integrity, Expense Control, etc. Promotions come quickly to those who do their best and go the extra mile to do things within the company. Everyone in the company is called a "team member" rather than an employee, because we all work together to reach our goals. Full time team members get at least 30hrs per week. Hard work is encouraged and rewarded.

    Cons

There are only benefits for those who are Full Time team members. When you work in a really busy store as a full time team member it is hard to have a life outside of work because of the amount of hours that you can be given a week. Part time team members can only work a total of 28hrs a week. This is a retail establishment, if you are looking for a regular M-F 9-5 then this is not it, you have to be able to be flexible on the scheduling part, especially if you are a full time team member or a member of management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As with any other company time off must be requested at least 2 weeks prior to the event, but if you are in a management position it is best to request for time off as soon as you know about a date that you would like to have off. You can make more than one request at the same time.
