    Missing the mark

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosgreat colleagues, compensation average to above average

Conssenior management and most directors living in the past glory days of the company. have neither the vision nor the courage to take important and needed steps. they are unwilling (unable?) to let go of day to day decisions, so are ignoring their own responsibilities.

Advice to Senior Managementtreat your employees as thought they have something to offer.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great Company to work for

Network Administrator (Former Employee) Portland, OR

ProsManagers that care. Great coworkers. Quality products. They take care of their employees and pay pretty well. Benefits are good as well.

ConsOCP is a publishing company and recently had to lay off their print shop staff and sell the presses. they are currently outsourcing most of their printing work to save a lot on shipping and labor. Quality company in a dying market.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up with the times and sell the products that will make money and keep you afloat. A digital product and sales model is the key to the future.

Great people creating wonderful products in a difficult culture.

    Manager (Former Employee) Portland, OR

ProsIn a word, the people. Musicians, printers, artists, writers, accountants, journalists, programmers, you name it, all working together in a unique environment. Most are there because they want to contribute something to the Church or work in nonprofits. Personal growth is valued, and there's a concerted effort by General Management to embrace change and include staff whenever possible. A plus? The building itself sits right next to Normandale Park, is near many great restaurants, and is centrally located to many parts of the metro area.

ConsThe culture can be intimidating. Information is passed on on a "need to know" basis which can give the appearance of secrecy. Trust is hard to earn and not easily given between departments or management and staff (both directions). Opportunities for professional growth have been hard to come by in recent years.

OCP is a good place that could improve.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Portland, OR

    ProsMission, family values.
Sense of purpose and importance to the work.

ConsThe workload tends to be heavy.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe gap between staff and Sr. Management is much wider than you realize. You are doing too much "telling" and not enough "listening." Let the staff and internal leaders tell you how to get things done.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
