Shifts were long, and work was repetitive.

Stock Audit Controller (Former Employee)
Gillingham, England (UK)

I worked at OCS Group full-time for less than a year

ProsMinimum entry for work, no formal qualifications are needed to apply as a stock audit controller. This allows people from all different walks of life to apply without having to have certain requirements.

ConsThe positions were advertised as being 16 odd hours part time. What they didn't mention is that was for a single shift. The average shift length is around 12 - 18 hours. Work can be unpredictable as well, you may not be given regular shifts.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore honest job advertisment is needed, with regular work for employees, instead of them not being given shifts after the first 5 trials shifts.

Disappointing

Sales Coordinator (Former Employee)
Bristol, England (UK)

I worked at OCS Group full-time for more than 10 years

ProsLarge national company with offices all over UK

ConsOver populated with management - under populated with administration
hell-bent on 'centralisation' at present - give it 5 years and they may well go back the other way if there is anything left then

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement need to consider the consequences of centralisation - customers will leave if they have no-one to make personal contact with on a more local basis

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Could be a great company to work for!

Contract Security Manager (Current Employee)
Portsmouth, South East England, England (UK)

I have been working at OCS Group

ProsThey are a large business services company and have locations all over the UK.
Some very dedicated and enthusiastic staff and local/regional management.

ConsPoor communication from senior management.
Lack of strategic planning and rigorous investigation of proposed changes
Apparent unwillingness to learn from mistakes and disasters
No clear direction for the business as a whole.
Local Management are left trying to fulfill the contracts but there are difficulties when corporate accounts are being extremely pedantic over the payments to suppliers, thus leaving the coal face unable to procure often vital equipment.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook closer to home when considering changes to the company structure. The operational sites are working hard and are let down by poor support from the corporate entity.

Give the staff real recognition for their efforts not just rather poor quality certificates.

Invest in the development of management as well as staff.

Take the staff's personal problems properly.

Invest in a decent payroll and rostering system for the staff.
