I worked at OLG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexible work environment - Stress free as you're expected to deliver very little

    Cons

    - Unmotivated employees who care mostly about being at home at 5 pm. - While working there for almost two years, I've learned very little from my manager/colleagues - Terrible mid and senior level management, cares very little about training and mentoring employees. - Office culture is boring, no corporate events or social activities.

I have been working at OLG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Depending on the management the only good think was work/life balance as you could leave if you were done your work early(if you have available vacation time to use). However, the casino is open 24/7 so I would work weekends. I have nothing else good to say about OLG. It was an ok starting job with a decent initial pay and benefits.

    Cons

There is no where to move to. There are a limited amount of management jobs and with no raises and minimum bonuses you are basically frozen from when you start to when you finish. I worked there for 6 years and my first pay stub was the same as my last pay stub. They were changing benefits(vacation, pension plans) for the worse as I left so it doesn't have much going for it. There is no help for employees to advance. Management will just move friends up without attention to who is best for the role. Minimal training for better jobs aside from basic excel or word courses that don't go anywhere, we had outdated operating systems (windows XP) The management is terrible, they have a new board of directors or CEO every year. This is probably were the bulk of the money goes (executives raised their salaries despite the wage freeze). The money certainly does not go towards the employees or facilities. The OLG is planning on selling the slot division. Management would not tell us anything about what was going to happen. We were told in a meeting that they can guarantee our jobs up until the point of new management. People like to think government is typically mediocre pay for good benefits and job security. OLG has no of those qualities
