I worked at OSU Medical Center

    Pros

Meaningful work. As an IT you are working with a dedicated and talented staff. The nurses and doctors of the hospital have great attitudes for professional staff.

    Cons

Not many, the pay is average for the location so the benefits are less affordable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the positive atmosphere!

I have been working at OSU Medical Center full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work with a great group. Everyone wants the best care for patients. Clinical staff can't get away with being a "government employee" lackey. Great benefits, healthcare, retirement, adoption, maternity/paternity leave, vacation time, ill time.

    Cons

Long hours. HR is inefficient at recruiting. Upper management plays politics with stuff and wastes and hoards resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get over yourselves, let's just take care of patients.

I have been working at OSU Medical Center as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Very flexible hours with over time opportunity. Also, you can build fabulous relationships with coworkers.

    Cons

Low pay, hardly any career growth. Communication and delegation of responsibilities could be handled better.

I worked at OSU Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You can learn a lot different methods. Good time to learn things which you never did before. You can take courses as well to study. This is sometimes hard to explain to advisor since you would need to be in lab. This could be a good opportunity to learn how to write the grants and to write more publications.

    Cons

If you work with cells, commonly you will be working on Sat./Sun as well. You may not have clear information from advisor about your vacation time, although you would be working extended hours anyway. Low pay. Commonly not recommended path, to learn more.

I have been working at OSU Medical Center

    Pros

It is a good place to work in the middle west region. The hospital is expanding, so more jobs are coming.

    Cons

Hard to find parking. The hospital is expanding, so the parking space will be even more limited. You have to come early.
