I have been working at Oakland Athletics part-time

    Pros

The training was great and my boss gave me all the tools I needed to succeed. Great environment for creativity. I got to try so many things beyond my "job description". The experience you get here is a great resume booster. The managers in each department have been with the team for a long time, and their dedication is incredible.

    Cons

The pay is very low (like any sports job) so turnover was very high. A lot of great employees who brought money to the team left to go to better paying jobs. The pay was only reason I had to consider leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Left with impression that management does not care one bit about retention.

I worked at Oakland Athletics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great place to start a career and learn about the sports business. There are key people throughout the organization that you can really learn a lot from.

    Cons

    - The organization preaches life/work balance throughout the organization but the expectations are different for each position.
    - I felt I was not rewarded and compensated for the amount of work I was doing in comparison to others in the organization.
    - Many people get stuck in the notion that "it's the way we've always done things"
    - I felt I was not empowered to do my job better or be given an opportunity to grow and succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Think of and reward your employees.
    - Strive to preach values throughout the entire organization
    - Seniority does not always make the best managers

I worked at Oakland Athletics as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

MLB looks great on a resume
    Relatively easy internship to get
    Full season of free games
    Semi-behind the scenes look
Ability to come back season after season

    Cons

Most of the other girl interns were catty and only cared about catching the attention of a player.
Promotions is not the most task
Many people weren't there to work

I worked at Oakland Athletics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great People, Lots of Travel. Potential to make a LOT of money

    Cons

A little too business like from a player perspective, can be very political

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't put so much stock in how much money you gave someone. It can discourage some late rounders/ cheap sign guys when people who you gave a lot of money get moved without proving themselves.

I have been working at Oakland Athletics

    Pros

Season Tickets for all employees, free gym membership for employee and a guest, partial cell phone reimbursement, young Ticket Sales department, no salary cap (as of now).

    Cons

Lots of hours, long baseball season, low base salary, not a lunch friendly location, slim company so not much room for growth unless someone leaves.

I worked at Oakland Athletics full-time

    Pros

The good thing is, if you're looking for some good sales training, you will definitely get it. You get thrown into the mix pretty quickly.

    Cons

After the first couple of weeks, you are just a number. The grind of the sales cycle never truly lets up, not matter what. You are expected to work a lot of overtime without compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continuity can do wonders when dealing with clients year after year.

I have been working at Oakland Athletics

    Pros

It's a major league ball club which that in itself makes it fun to go to work everyday!
All employees seem to really enjoy their jobs here and always WANT to be at work

    Cons

It is not a 9-5 job. You will work weekends, nights, and holidays
You need a lot of experience to move anywhere within the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have no complaints with management. Always giving feedback to employees and advice to make you a better employee and to move forward
