    Pros

Teaches you to work in a team. Lets you experience customer service and retail.

    Cons

Too much manual labor. You don't get a chance to get a raise because they don't believe in raises.

    Pros

Free ice cream when you work, good atmosphere, great co-workers, great discount.
It's great IF you are a HIGH SCHOOL student.

    Cons

Pay is beyond stupid. It is a WEEKLY average base pay of minimum wage. If you become a shift leader some days you make the exact same as crew member. If you want to make Oberweis a career job start off as an Assistant Manager (Salaried), not crew, especially if you only work at the Dairy Store and not a burger joint. There is a 'starting' pot, but its not even enough for everyone to be at least at minimum wage. Store managers expect too much from shift leaders and crew members, but they aren't perfect either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care a little more about your crew and fix the pay scale. It's a complete joke, make the base pay a little higher for those who have received "raises" (Crew 1, Crew 2,..., Shift Leader 1, Shift Leader 2,...) or make the base pay daily not weekly. Make working there as 'peons' a little more worth it and there wouldn't be a high turn over rate of employees and shift leaders. Someone who is a key holder and is responsible for opening and closing operations should not make minimum wage.

    Pros

Gave me lots of dishwashing experience.
Helped me expand my ability to work with children.
The shift leaders were very nice.
    The trainees were very nice.
    Worked with That Burger Joint.

    Cons

They lied to me about what I was being hired for, and only had me wash dishes.
    They lied about my schedule.
The manager never helped, and put trainees all together on busy days with no shift leader.

    Pros

Customers are usually pretty happy. Great crew. Delicious products. The times flies when it's busy.

    Cons

There's a lot of nepotism, double standards and the district manager is micro-managing the store managers to death. The PRP system needs to be revised. Working alone in the store is not safe in all locations but Joe doesn't care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This isn't 1951-you can't expect people not to worry about their personal safety when working alone.

    Pros

    They have a training period
Quality product, which you get a discount
You get to set your own hours

    Cons

There really isn't much "training" much more trail and error
You need to be proactive in being bonded, the company moves slow with it and that stalls growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the sales people know who is already a customer! It would be great to talk with their neighbors, and see if they are interested. Great opportunity for fast growth if the sales people had the resources available to them.

    Pros

Accessible to younger hires, great early experience-builder, store discount, opportunities to advance to shift leader or assistant manager within a year or two.

    Cons

High turnover rate; stores can get absurdly busy, and during these times there are never enough staff. Customers and co-workers vary, and with them your experience with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
