    Pros

9/80 is good, don't see as much extra time being put in since oil prices dropped, but they seem to be putting in quite a bit of effort to avoid laying people off. Not perfectly, unfortunately, but not bloodbaths like I've seen in the past.

    Cons

Terrible focus. The company doesn't seem to be able to stick to anything long enough to see if it works. I think they're calling it 'nimble', but really it's more 'confused'. At my fairly low level, planning more than three months ahead is a waste of time. Also, there isn't much of a mentoring program for all of the young people that have taken management roles. Sink or swim is a philosophy, I suppose, but it doesn't help build a great organization. Last, a very fractured structure, with little or no clarity about roles and responsibilities. We spend more time arguing about who is supposed to look after something than we do getting it done.

    Advice to Management

Try sticking to something for a while. You might find that you enjoy seeing results. And pay attention to your young managers. Most of them will grow into decent leaders if you support them. Not expecting any change in the structure, though it's desperately needed.

    Pros

9/80 schedule, everyone has an office, 401k benefit, young people have more opportunities, flexible working hours you can choose to suit your need.

    Cons

Below average pay and bonus, don't value old employees. Management lack of people skills. Now matter how hard you work or not, you get the same as everyone else.

    Advice to Management

Need to promote right people and train management level with people and communication skill. Need more structures.

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, 9/80, service credit for past work in industry

    Cons

Lunch breaks frowned upon; no gym; weird culture (overly severe and strict in "corporate" functions); not allowed to really take much vacation despite being allowed five weeks; terrible bonuses (virtually non-existent); outdated culture and strange, stereotypical ideas about Houston/Texas especially.

    Advice to Management

Please get more diversity - one female CEO is a great start, but now let's see more trickle down: women, African Americans, Asians, etc. You're way too white-male compared to most of the rest of the oil biz! Practice what you preach - you're not that "innovative" and you're a tad stuffy even though you try hard to "fit in" with Texas. Don't hide your roots - Armand Hammer and all the other "warts" that you believe should be diminished. It's all part of your history. Everyone else (in oil biz) knows it. No sense in covering it up - it's part of who Oxy is. DUH.

    Pros

Working for a petroleum company has its benefits. Most co-workers have a positive attitude. Pay is a little below average but probably evens our when the benefits are conisdered

    Cons

Some old school cultural issues, corporate offices often dictate site priorities, its a little frustrating when your recommendations or projects aren't even considered in lieu of other priorities. I suppose that just corporate america at work.

    Advice to Management

Get with the millennial mindset, people less than 30 never stick with the company because from the top down it is old boys club.

Frequent change before efficiencies can be achieved from last change.

    Pros

9/80 work schedule. Not a lot of good to say. Great Christmas party. Fexible work schedule.

    Cons

No direction but pure confusion and fear. Middle manegement has no idea what is coming next which makes it difficult for them to lead. Very young staff who are talented but can only do as told. Older experienced professionals forget it. There is no place for you in this company.

    Pros

Good benefits and challenging projects. Good technical people that try to do the right thing. Adding more words to hit 20-word minimum.

    Cons

Treat people like widgets. Terrible locations... Long Beach, Bakersfield, Greenway Plaza... Management is somewhat cut throat.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat people like dirt - that is why you have a revolving door of folks leaving constantly. Pay is not competitive with the rest of industry.
