    Pros

Good pay, Great 401K. Decent benefits. Good security for good performers.

    Cons

No life. Overtime is excessive. Too much travel. Demands often unrealistic and unreasonable. Risk of layoffs when there is a lull between projects.

I worked at Oceaneering International as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Work and money to make a living

    Cons

Too many "still wet behind the ears" people with bigger positions than they're qualified for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring mainly women right out of school then giving them high positions just for your own eye candy. It's an age old known fact about Oceaneering. I'm not saying that anyone should and could perform a job but it's very strange that young and attractive girls, with very little to no experience are promoted quickly while the less attractive aren't given such opportunities or equal salaries. All it takes is one look to see that looks and skirt lengths are the key factors to achievement there.

I have been working at Oceaneering International full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great company to learn the basics of subsea, hydraulics, electrical and controls. Completions and work over on drill ships, semi submersibles, and platform rigs.

    Cons

A lot of nepotism, and good ole boy atmosphere. Training was hit or miss: sometimes it was relevant and current and sometime it was antiquated and general. Compensation was adequate for a beginning career but not for a family.

    Pros

Good place to enter oil and gas field

    Cons

All departments work like small groups

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to get more like a big company now, all small groups are acting as stand alone company

I have been working at Oceaneering International

    Pros

Interesting products. Seemingly good reputation with customers.

    Cons

Low morale, painfully poor communication within the organization, culture of keeping employees as contractors rather than bringing people on full-time, inconsistent treatment of one employee vs. another (poor or non-existent HR protocols), departments do not work together as a team, but instead work against each other, culture of HUGE egos that get in the way of productivity, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Team-building training maybe? All I can say is that many of the problems seem to come from the top.

I have been working at Oceaneering International full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I have been hearing Oceaneering since when I was with my fisheries company in Ghana West Africa.

    Cons

1 )The challenges here is that most the Seamanship Documents are not accepted, especially EDH, LIFE BOAT, ISPS, FIRE FIGHTING, ELEMENTARY FIRST AID, PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES.
I have all the abilities, everywhere except mechanical.
Due to problems I have begin my career goals with (ENTRY LEVEL )

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Is good for them to manage the way they are because inexperienced seamen onboard can cause problems to the company especially during maneuver, use of winches, STS etc..

    Pros

Better than average pay and benefits. They take care of their people. Challenging work. Definitely a place where you can grow. If you are successful here you will be successful anywhere.

    Cons

no work/life balance. Hours and travel are unreasonable. Hard to take vacation. They take work that they don't have the resources to accomplish so they burn out their people to get it done. When I took this job, they told me there was very minimal and infrequent travel, and for short durations. Now they tell me I have to travel for months at a time.
