I have been working at Oceanic Time Warner Cable full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get paid. 3 weeks vacation. ok medical benefits. Free cable TV and Internet I got training! - training to stick to their rule of building flat files with 100 character generic fields.

    Cons

Pay is at the bottom of the scale, while the cost of living is at the top of the scale. Honolulu is on the top 3 most expensive places to live. You will learn nothing from this iSeries/AS400 shop. They suck all your knowledge and teach you nothing. They actually force you to code the old way. No coding standards. They force you to use flat files. They have 500-1000 character fields for multiple uses. They got stuck in the S36 era. No training. They dump multiple tickets everyday. The software is full of bugs. Most apps have no data entry screens. They plug in data by SQL, QA'd by another set of people. I don't understand why they dont develop data entry screen that will validate entries. This place needs to be audited. Imagine programmers enter data to the production files. Turnover of programmers is 1 per 3 months. Sounds funny but I ain't kidding. No assistance in moving, it's up to you to move and look for a place to stay. You end up spending more than you earn here - so a number of people from the mainland eventually quit. It look THREE decades before a programmer/analyst got promoted to supervisor. So now we have 1 supervisor, 1 manager and the rest programmer/analyst. So before considering applying here - remember, you have to spend thousands to relocate. You need a place to stay, a car and the average fastfood is $10.00

    Advice to Management

Adjust pay proportionate to cost of living. Fix and stabilize the system before dreaming for more half baked enhancements. Provide career advancements. Provide training.

I have been working at Oceanic Time Warner Cable (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to get a job here they hire just about anyone with a pulse. The employee discount is substantial if you live in a TWC area.

    Cons

The training Is horrible the goals the company sets are unrealistic this San Diego location needs a visit from the show under cover boss. I don't believe Comcast would have any interest in TWC if they new how horrible they really are to its employees and customers im talking about unexplained cancelations and raises in cost changes to bill without notification just shady business. The supervisors have a 1000 excuses but no answers.

    Advice to Management

Please provide better training and provide answers instead of excuses. And stop being so arrogant and be more approachable.

I have been working at Oceanic Time Warner Cable full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Employees go above and beyond

    Cons

Corp has now got a hold of this company and is holding it down. But this company insist on pushing forward with or without Corporate.

    Advice to Management

Management is afraid of corporate. You do have one VP that is the fighter. That VP holds the company together. As for middle management, not all are born leaders. Just task people.

    Pros

On Oahu, there are many locations to work, it is not necessary to work in downtown. I like that they provide parking at MOST locations.

    Cons

Sometimes you do need to know someone to advance. New part time workers do not qualify for discount cable services.

    Advice to Management

Please consider the overall background of your employee who is trying to advance to other open positions within the company.
