    Pros

Great company run by a brilliant Gentleman who brought this company from the ground up and treated his employees with the utmost respect at all times.

    Cons

Odyssey Systems is a defense contract company and that industry is generated by contracts from the US Government, when money from the government dries up it makes it hard for the employer to pass on good benefits to his employees.

    Advice to Management

My advice to Senior Mgmt who have been there for a while would be to remember the little guy who supports you, do not forget that without their support your success would not happen, do not take that for granted! I have seen that happen to often while working there.

    Pros

Good leadership team - seem genuinely interested in making sure employees are happy.

    Cons

The company is primarily in the DoD support contract business - an industry that's certain to decline for the foreseeable future due to budget pressure. Odyssey seems to be in some good niches, but virtually no company in this space will avoid impacts. Also, like every other government contractor, you are consignment labor. It's the nature of the industry that you are useful only as long as the current contract lasts.

    Advice to Management

Make it a practice to check in on each employee periodically - otherwise, they have no real connection to the company.

    Pros

Nice the first week but expect to be thrown to the wolves after that.

    Cons

They are incompetent and expect security and network accessibility to take forever. They are unsupportive and treat their employees very badly. The worst experience I've ever had. They are basically bullies, expect to be thrown under the bus on a regular basis if you work at Hanscom. Please save your sanity and do not work for this company. The left hand does not know what the right is doing.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and be upfront about the processes.

    Pros

    Small company experience, very personal.

    Cons

Small company, cannot carry you if budget talks stall.

    Advice to Management

more open dialog with employees during budget hearings.

    Pros

Great team members outside of management, benefits and 401K plan were good.

    Cons

It was difficult to find managerial support regarding the challenges I faced in my position - positive feedback was almost non-existent. Environment was chaotic and challenging, and I was given little to no direction. It felt like I was being spied on by the customer, and criticism became personal instead of professional.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the positive things your employees do - listen to what they have to say if they are having challenges. Be supportive.
