    I worked at Oerlikon full-time

    Pros

Overall good company to work for. You will learn a lot if you are a "go getter". If you are a driven individual, you will succeed at this company.

    Cons

You need to manage your own career. It is not necessary a bad thing. For me it was a good thing.

I worked at Oerlikon full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Ongoing changes unstable conditions might be good for high risk adventurer

    Cons

No stable or defined strategy, ongoing sell-buy chaos of segments and business units
Very poor central operation, risk and audit management
Within 5 years in corporate 4 CEO´s, in many segments C-level changing on 1-2 year basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Specify and agree upon realistic strategy, align with segments and business development
    2. Build transparent performance measures over segments, no blind inheritance from car industry
    3. Build reasonable corporate governance, managed by corporate, formalized risk-, audit- and compliance mgmt, build it governance.

I worked at Oerlikon full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Nice tasks could be picked up but focus is changing to quickly.

    Cons

Some (German....) 'high-potentials' are getting too many chances, playing games and as management is busy with 'surviving' also people has been mobbed. New CEO (also German) has a totally other personality (and tougher) as the previous and nice Mr. Krueger.
(By the way: Vladimir V. Kuznetsov is NOT the CEO)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay attention to people-management

I have been working at Oerlikon

    Pros

the experience within a couple of years one gets at Oerlikon one would need two or three times longer in another (more stable) company. ie for the career and technical development it is great, if you can handle the instability and turns around

    Cons

ups and downs and fluctuatin of colleagues is a clear minus... change of strategies and projects are often too fast so that one ist not yet really implemented and the next mngt team generation is already coming with a new strategy...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

speed up modern HR tools and motivation of the staff, reduce fluctuation, build up inter-departamental exchange
