Pros
Excellent work environment; very flexible schedule; major global corporation experience
Cons
While pay is good, benefits seem to be less than at other companies
Advice to Senior Management
Determine what differentiates the company from competitors
Pros
Just to be a good place to work.
Cons
all upper management need to be change.
Advice to Senior Management
Office Depot Company need to focus more in their employee's for all they expect from them.
Pros
Easy work and great pay when the store does well. Laid back atmosphere makes it great for a part-time job, awful as a career. (Retail in general makes for an awful career)
Cons
Poor management at all levels of the company leads to little or no commission. Pay is below other companies when commission isn't made. District/region leading employees can receive less money than the worst employee at another store simply because the rest of the staff is sub-par. This leads to lower motivation, which when paired with the already incompetent leadership adds up to lazy workers and extremely poor numbers.
Advice to Senior Management
Better training for all employees with less emphasis on their ever-changing corporate rhetoric. Focus on general sales tactics and customer service skills rather than cookie-cutter openers and loaded questions for customer interaction. Offer exceptional employees some form of bonus no matter how the rest of their store is performing. Improve marketing and brand image, and increase selection of electronics.
Pros
Learn a lot if you are driven and want to do it.
Cons
Analysis paralysis! cannot get things done quickly. Some projects have been in the works for years!
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate better with lower management. Listen to what they have to say. Execute faster.
Pros
Nice new corporate office building. Many employees (over 1,600) at corporate office. Friendly professional environment. Nice cafeteria area. Opportunity for growth, and a place to gain experience.
Cons
Very very corporate atmosphere. Cubicles resemble a call center for all employees below Director level. Due to economy there are limited bonuses or incentives. No free coffee.
Advice to Senior Management
Clean house and get rid of the overpaid employees in positions that they are not qualified for. Provide more training opportunities for other than senior management.
Pros
Good beginning salary and up to 40 hours a week
Cons
Management doesn't really give a rats a** about you.
Advice to Senior Management
If you are working a seated forklift and getting over 10 an hour go for the job, if not don't bother with them
Pros
There are some good people and the pay was very good. I also like the product.
Cons
Private label department management and team is over the top. I never experienced such an unprofessional group. It was the kind of place that many people looked to get each other into trouble so that they would look good to management. The team was uncooperative and extremely competitive in a bad way.
Pros
Great place to work.- green energy, clean and pleasant work envrionment
Corporate culture improvement
Focus on customers (finally...)
Cons
The top heavy structure issue has not been changed, unless it's getting worse even after the new CEO.
Advice to Senior Management
Except the IT division, almost a half of the employees are Senior Managers and above. Too many chiefs and not enough warriers.
Try to re-evaluate what they are doing on a daily basis and what values they have been brought to the company. Gather feedback from the entire corporate citizens, not just from your corporate friends. Work on your poor self-awareness before you talk about "leadership".
Pros
Great Office Location
Have some Interesting Work
Have some great talent
First class Gym on site
A Beautiful Headquarter Office
Cons
Poor corporate culture
Lack of team working spirit
Poor middle management
Many people work with fear
Poor communication among cross functional teams. Management has been working hard to improve it.
Advice to Senior Management
Drive fear out of organization if we want to keep the best talent.
Pros
gOOD WORK ENVIRONMENT. Great work life balance. Talent must be nurtured
Cons
Recognition problem....Too much top heavy ..Low salaries
