I have been working at Office Depot full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

they pay is fair and treatment is with respect. you get to have benefits like medical insurance including dental with a low deduction from your pay check. Co workers are nice in general

Balanced life is very good. you get time for personal life and work life.

I also got a promotion after the first year of working for the company and human resource employees are always helpful

I personally am very thankful to work here

    Cons

no cons. it is a great company to work for. unfortunately the company is probably be bought by staples by the end of the year and right now future is uncertain

right now nobody knows what the future will be for the company. That is the only reason I wouldn't recommend applying for a job.

Staples says that if the buy goes through the headquarters are moving to Massachussets and there will be a presence in Boca, but nobody knows for how long and the size of that presence

I have been working at Office Depot full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great experience, great sales training -- Office adept had been a very good company to work for.

    Cons

There has not been as money opportunities for advancement in the business division as had been portrayed or anticipate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a clear vision and direction. Given the rapidly changing office products industry there had to be leadership. Communicate, communicate, communicate

I have been working at Office Depot

    Pros

Great company with fair benefits and pay. Compensated well for results and recognized for outstanding performance. Good work-life balance and overall company culture.

    Cons

The Office Depot / OfficeMax merger has created internal difficulty and required significant training to learn both systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With over 50,000 employees, there is a lot of knowledge among lower level employers. There should be a way to communicate ideas and for Sr. Management to sort and review information.

I worked at Office Depot part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

really teaches you about their selling culture, you really learn something from this company, you can apply everything that you learn here and apply it towards any of your future careers

    Cons

sometimes work can be slow depending on the day, really picks up during lunch time and often slows down towards the evening. Pay raises occur yearly, and are often low

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    communication is key

    Cons

I worked at Office Depot full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Vacation for full time employees was great! 2 weeks front loaded! Most of the managers were great to work with, they worked with you, not above you! Catching the sale items early so you could get a good deal on a lot of things too. Always doing something fun to reward hard work for the employees

    Cons

As an hourly employee the pay could have been better. Working with young college kids that have no idea about real life or responsibility. Upper management (not directly in the store) were usually hard to deal with and I felt they looked down on everyone that worked at store level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was compensated as much as allowed as an hourly employee but if I were a single parent trying to make it, there would have been no way to make it on the wage I was making. I was a hard worker and was acknowledged often for it but if the wage would have been more I could have continued my employment. I would say to polish your diamonds to keep them sparkly!
