I worked at OfficeMax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The employees were quick to help one another. This is rare in a sales environment.

    Cons

The new employee training was the worst I've ever encountered. I've been a trainer and was totally underwhelmed. The training team I a part of hit the floor having no idea what we were supposed to do.

    Pros

If you are a good salesman you will love this job. There is a lot of money to be made. They get a lot of supply goodies that you can keep, and training is fun. They try to keep people positive by having parties and such.

    Cons

They have a very high quota to keep and a huge turnover. This is a cold calling position. You have to make 50 calls a day and that is very difficult when you also have to be customer service and return calls and emails. It is a very demanding job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You know the turnover at the call center in Norman is very high. There are reasons for that. You may want to look into it!

  3.

Interesting, but largely dissatisfying due to a loosely applied commission structure.

    Pros

Interesting clients, particularly in the B2B side of the business, in which you're able to work with everything from government offices to stock brokers. Reasonably lax guidelines for dress and socializing within the workplace.

    Cons

Corporate appears quite content to adjust commission structure loosely, making it hard to determine an average amount of compensation for any period of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide either a higher salary or establish a uniform method for commission payouts on the low-end, with varying scales for higher levels . Consistency is vital when in a commission-driven job.

    Pros

8-5 mf so a pretty structured week

    Cons

Its all about the Numbers we had a lady who had been here for 8 years and they consistantly raised her goal and never was given a platu. He goal was almost half a million dollars. The day she was fired she placed a 100k order and they didnt even take that into considerations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get real managers that actually know how to sell and are not just hired by their moms..
