    Pros

upper management does not belittle lower-level management; foundation built on influential David Ogilvy is always impressive & surprising; always fun!

    Cons

pay could be better plus opportunity to increase salary each year upon review would be a huge perk to retain employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Great brand recognition and top quality people. Ogilvy corporate culture is very strong and they do a good job reminding you why they are the best of the best. The top creative that comes out of the building is truly world-class. I genuinely like most of the people I work with.

    Cons

Zero work-life balance. Good luck if you want to take an evening class, or even schedule dinner with friends. WPP policy is not to give raises, regardless of performance, which they never measure anyway. Bad behavior at senior level is not only tolerated but respected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire leaders of people at Managing Director level and above, not just business builders. Leaders will inspire their people under intense circumstances and should be evaluated not just on contribution margin, but team retention and creative excellence. Make 360 feedback mandatory.

    Pros

There is a positive work environment. The people working here are happy and friendly. The company has lots of important and interesting clients. There is room for improving the company and making an impact.

    Cons

Compensation is lacking. People must work long hours without over time pay or bonuses. There is little continuity between offices.

    Pros

Ogilvy definitely has strong brand recognition for your resume, and apart from a few exceptions, you will work with some of the smartest minds in the industry.

    Cons

Lots of chasing your own tail as a team, and the agency is full of egos and big personalities to manage. The organization has become impossible to navigate-- a result of people in the agency trying to 'do their own thing' to half-baked success, and the agency being a yes-man to every single client, undermining a distinct competitive advantage or value proposition amongst different internal teams.

Additionally, anyone there will tell you, high performers get punished-- more aptitude equals more work without proper compensation. The only way to get a raise is to have a counter offer or leave and come back. Really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage a clear organizational structure, and offer a fair compensation plan based on performance.

    Pros

A world renowned established advertising firm that you would want to have on your resume. Great benefits. Great employee social and sport activities.

    Cons

Depends on the client you are assigned to but this job could be a thankless job where you could end up working for over 60 hours a week including weekends but all that does not matter unless you know how to schmooze and play the game or they will get rid of you somehow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training, training, training.... across the board and listen more to older established employees versus new fresh employees straight from college with no advertising experience.
