Pros
Large agency with a great support network, cushy benefits (cafeteria, great benefits program, gym etc..) and lots of different accounts to work on. Tons of places to find your niche within the agency
Cons
Company energy/culture is kind of corporate/dry. You can hear a pin drop on many floors it's so quiet. Not the most "fun" place to work or the most creative, out of the box thinking.
Advice to Senior Management
Watch your juniors and meet their needs early in their career development. A lot of young people are neglected at this agency and fail to grow properly b/c they are lost in the "machine" of Ogilvy.
Pros
It leaves a great impression on your resume. People in the ad world respect Ogilvy...
They have great accounts to work on to broaden your skills, the building is huge and a LOT of people work there. If you like the larger agency type settings, than this should be a good fit for you. I enjoyed that about working there.
Cons
The location is very difficult and inconvenient to get to, way over on the West side. If you don't mind walking a few avenues over or taking the bus, then it's fine.
Pros
Good work/life balance, good pay, great people
Cons
It's big, and that's not always a good thing, silos
Advice to Senior Management
Break down the walls
Pros
Invest in training their employees.
Opportunity to learn and grow.
Great network that allows for transfer & access to information.
Cons
Inter-department silos, sometimes hard to overcome.
Can definitely look into providing more competitive pays.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage more inter-department & cross-functional roles.
Pros
Great, smart people. Excellent accounts, with great clients. Especially within the NY office - some huge, sexy, flagship accounts to work on.
Always pitching and winning new business. And you have the opportunity to jump in and help wherever you have knowledge. Being here only one year, I've been able to help out on a variety of pitches for high profile accounts.
Compensation is great. Benefits are pretty good. Office space itself is AMAZING, even though it's located on 11th Avenue.
Cons
You're owned by a huge holding company... which has all the politics you would imagine. However, you do also have the backing of WPP, which can have its benefits as well.
Advice to Senior Management
Not much. Keep on keepin on. Appreciate the candid visibility into financials, and changes being made within the agency itself.
Pros
Friendly People
High School Intern Program
Good pay for a 17 year old!
Beautiful Building
Cons
Taxes!
The Location is very far from any transportation.
Advice to Senior Management
Give scholarships to your hard working high school interns!
Pros
really good working environment
friendly managers
nice HR
learned a lot
I really like this company and I look forward to working with them too
Cons
i work late every day and the job is kind of tiring if you are not passionate enough about advertising
Advice to Senior Management
i think everything is good except that working late is annoying and tiring. i like this company a lot really!
Pros
Heritage from David Ogilvy / Good Office facility and environment to work at/ Modern and Sufficient Infrastructure in the NY Office/ Branding
Cons
Organization is too big for it to be efficient, employees doesn't feel valued/inclusive or sense of belonging to the agency, dysfunctional admin/HR dept
Advice to Senior Management
Better/Transparent/Frequent Management Communication
Pros
People are fantastic, for a group of people that aren't always rewarded fairly, they work extremely hard and are known as some of the best in the business in Chicago area.
Cons
Management is typically changing the structure of our working environment, if you like constant change then it's good. We work a lot.
It takes awhile to get promoted and get a raise...
Advice to Senior Management
More focus on career development and the path to promotions.
Way too unstructured and unclear as to how you can advance your career, everything is usually based on 'industry standards' and not on individual merit.
Pros
Great brand, smart people, nice people
Cons
very political, lots of buzz words, too much process
Advice to Senior Management
Need some fresh, young hip managment. Not the old lstuffy ifers who are currently running the company
