    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at a person's entire work product be you discount them. Just because they had a bad day or disagree on a topic does not mean they should be shunned for life. So of the most value people of the folks you look over.

    Pros

Benefits, opportunities to lateral or promote into different types of jobs, some really fine people to work with or for.

    Cons

I've never worked a central office before where the Administrator/Director wasn't readily visible. Bureaucracy, red tape, some areas/"leaders" unable to make decisions and move ahead. Seems to be there's always room/a job for one of senior management's friends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember the mission and don't forget there's a real person depending on the agency for benefits in a tough time.
