I worked at Oklahoma State full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great place to learn and gain experience in Project Management. Lots of good people working there and the work load was good.

    Cons

Low pay for the most part but the work load was comparable. Sometimes the days would just last forever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The project managers should have half of the people working there and keep them busy with higher pay.

    Pros

People here are very friendly. Very safe place to live in. Good work-life balance. I get a lot experience in both research and teaching.

    Cons

Stillwater is a very small town, so there is not many entertainment places to go. It also doesn't have enough parking spots.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up with the good job.

Former Employee - Student Supervisor in Stillwater, OK
Former Employee - Student Supervisor in Stillwater, OK

I worked at Oklahoma State part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

For a student this is actually a good job, but the pay sucks compared to the amount of work required. If you make student supervisor, it's only a quarter raise, and MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR THE RAISES AFTER EVERY SEMESTER!!!! You can get up to 8.00 an hour as a student super but you have to ask. Make sure you ask before if you need time off. They're pretty good about working around it.

    Cons

Work to pay ratio isn't that good.
High turnover rate, so be prepared to train multiple people often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reevaluate how often you change things. If it would stretch the concepts thin please don't implies it. And communicate when you change something. Don't just tell 1 person and expect the back of the house to know.

I have been working at Oklahoma State

    Pros

Great environment, like-minded people, lots of opportunities to work on interesting projects, work 9-80 schedule (every other friday off)

    Cons

Management on both the contract and government side can be an absolute pain - it seems to be complete autonomy or complete micromanagement and very little in between

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let employees be the experts they were hired to be.
