I worked at Oklahoma State part-time for less than a year

    Pros

As a recent graduate, I had the opportunity to assist one of my professors on one of her publications. She was always available to discuss ideas that I had for her book and very accepting of edits that contributed.

    Cons

The compensation could be slightly higher. Another issue is the parking. If you life far from campus than try to take the bus or bike if you can.

    Pros

Nice staffs. Good environment. I was working there as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. The teacher always asked me to be nice to students.

    Cons

Actually not too much cons. If the ranking of okstate is hight, it would be better.

I worked at Oklahoma State full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great for starting the career you want. Students can get internships that often lead to full-time roles after graduation.

    Cons

A lot of politics, projects and processes move slowly, and pay isn't great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Disappointed to see the compensation for higher degree advancement go down. That should be more of a priority, but it doesn't seem to be for the university.

I have been working at Oklahoma State

    Pros

Wonderful place to work if you like the higher education setting. A beautiful campus. Good collaborative environment to work in.

    Cons

Depending on the job you are in there is not a whole lot of room for growth. You can however make a move within the University system for growth if wanted.

I have been working at Oklahoma State full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You are offered health care, including dental and eye. Depending on your position, you have holidays off.

    Cons

There is very much a "good ol' boys" mentality here. Difficult to fit in or advance unless you like to play politics. The average pay is not that stellar, and there are very little raises given out. The HR for the entire campus is very much a part of the politics game. When your HR representative is unwilling to be unbiased and assist you, you know that things are messed up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your staff. Realize that each person is an individual. The ethics point system needs to take submissions more seriously.

I worked at Oklahoma State full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a large institution that provides stability, average pay, and reasonable benefits, reasonable retirement.

    Cons

It's not a place for those that embrace change or seek to improve a system. Lack of creativity, top heavy management, micromanagement, good-ol-boy mentality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

learn to recognize that processes that need to change, should

    Pros

My two IT managers have been awesome to work for. They have made this a really good learning experience - challenging, but not overwhelming
