    Pros

High wages(for area)good relationship with management,I can call most any senior managment and have my calls answered. One of the few freight companies that didn't cut salaries,401-k matches,or other benefits.

    Cons

like all freight outfit, most line driving jobs are night jobs until you reach a high level of seniority, takes 10 years of service to get three weeks of vacation, and 20 yrs to aquire four weeks of vacation.

    Advice to Management

have the best freight job in my city, continue the personal touch, the anniversary and birthday cards make for a real family feel to an increasingly impersonal business.

I have been working at Old Dominion Freight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is an truly wonderful company to work 4. Really feels like family, dispatch respects all drivers and driver situations leaves you 2 do your job with out naggin and bugging the Mess out of you, like most of your LTL company's out there. They truly respect you as a Man Or Woman, from supervisors to terminal managers. Trust me you'll love it here! For the first time in my life, I actually enjoy waking up and going to work!!!!

    Cons

They assign tractors, but good luck in actually getting your assign truck. No one respects it and no one enforces it either, it's a free 4 all. Could be frustrating at some times but you get use to it after a while. And The Benefits could be better; Like Blue Cross And Blue Shield pluse more matching on 401K

    Advice to Management

Enforce Tractor assignments!!! Drivers will feel so much better!!!!!

I have been working at Old Dominion Freight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

After being in logistics/trucking for over twenty years, I can gladly say that working for this company ranks as the best, par none!

    Cons

Sometimes the LTL aspects of their operations can be a bit much, but the job must be done.

    Advice to Management

Although, personally, I have never been lied to, the truth gets the "beat around the bush" treatment sometimes. Be upfront about everything, and honest.

I worked at Old Dominion Freight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Full time, great benefits, tons of perks, great equipment... I have worked at 6 other trucking companies and if you are a dock worker this is the best place to be.

    Cons

Do not pay overtime in Oregon till after 60 hours. You work a crazy schedule, rotating sundays (6 day work weeks)

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.

I have been working at Old Dominion Freight full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Have been very professional and care for employess.Good business model-making profits in a very hard economic market.

    Cons

Career ladder non existent. No training for better job within the company.

    Advice to Management

Need more info to employees for upcoming job openings- promote more from within first before going outside the company. Need to train your own people to fill these positions and make some type of syst em to follow to get there. To much insider only promotions.

I have been working at Old Dominion Freight full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay, competitive benefits, great equipment, friendly atmosphere. The company also tries to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to technology to help improve both service to the customer and the employee's ability to do his/her job.

    Cons

Nothing more than you would have in any work environment and certainly nothing on a company wide level. The only personal complaint I would have is the very low turn-over rate which makes moving up the seniority list kind of slow. But that's due to the aforementioned "Pros".

I have been working at Old Dominion Freight full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Very friendly work enviroment. Great managers We are kept informed as to how our individual terminal is doing and also the company as a whole. Very family like enviroment. I like that even though it's a large company, it feels like a family run buisness.

    Cons

The only con I have is the raise schedule. I don't like the "across the board" raises not merit/performance based.

    Advice to Management

    None. Managers are great

Pay is awesome, benefits are decent. If you need something, they get it done for you

    Cons

Management...nepitism. Not a lot of room for growth. Nothing very bad, just your normal corporate politics.
