  1. A leaderless company that doesn't have a vision or know to manage itself in advance of problems.

    Pros

Being employed is better than being unemployed. Responsibilities are delegated, and compensation was fair. The company does maintain a strong balance sheet.

    Cons

The failure of leadership means your job is at high risk of developing into a past position as they lay people off to compensate for their failures.

    Advice to Management

Get a vision and treat people with respect. Don't rely on direct reports to tell you what is going on. The issues underneath them are severe and known to the staff's. They could tell you how to fix them before you sell the subsidiary and fire everyone. Treat people fairly.

    Pros

Many nice people – especially the more recent joiners

    Cons

Clichés and fiefdoms connected by their length of service, rather than value, competency or effectiveness. Decision making by committee or collective – no one wants to be accountable for a decision.

    Pros

People are generally nice, HR team really tries to make the workplace fun with team building exercises, lunches, etc.

    Cons

Management does not listen to employees, creativity in problem solving is actively discouraged, work/life balance is minimal in some groups, management team is shaky and worst of all, London office controls everything making for lots of bureaucratic unnecessary paper-pushing jobs.

    Advice to Management

Decide on a management team, then stick to it. Aim to bring the best out of people to benefit the company and their personal/professional growth, rather than just viewing them as resources. Don't make promises to the market that you can't keep.

    Pros

Lots of fun people to work around, laid back environment. You can learn a lot because of the multi tasking involved.

    Advice to Management

Invest on employees, work on better salary schemes, base promotions on performance not time in the company, work on a better benefits program
