I have been working at Old Navy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've been with the company for 3 1/2 years as a Pricing Specialist. Gap Inc is a wonderful company to work for. Benefits are great. My associates are fabulous.

    Cons

Only negative thing is the management team at my store doesn't act like a TEAM it is very frustrating. They don't seem to care to set others up for success. Hours, but hey its retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to acknowledge your whole team. Promote those that deserve it.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I've worked for Old Navy for about a year and it's been a fairly positive experience. Management is sure to give you breaks on time, and the breaks are longer than in other retail. You get a great discount at all three brands. Environment is generally friendly and upbeat.

    Cons

The pay is quite low, close to minimum wage. I've received training to diversify my place at work, but no compensation to match - very disappointed. Like most retail, you have a lot of hours around the holidays, but many Old Navys are also open Thanksgiving Day as well. Hours can be hard to come by and my schedule changes every week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward exemplary employees with more hours and a pay raise.

I have been working at Old Navy

    Pros

    -Flexible hours
    -Respectable managers.
-Managers try to work with schedule conflicts.
-Discounts at ON for 25%, 30% for Gap/ Banana outlets, and 50% for Gap and Banana.
-quality of clothes has gone up.
    -work by yourself.
    -good sale promotions.
    -great people to work with.

    Cons

    -Bad training for new recruits.
    -Pay
-Messy shoppers, which means staying later to 'recover' store.
-kids throwing balls and leaving toys everywhere around store.
-bad Loss prevention. Loss prevention associates hang around when there are no shoplifters and leave when the thieves are stealing.
    -need to improve theft prevention.
    -booster thieves always target ON.
-Managers pressure employees to open Old Navy credit cards but there is no rewards/commissions.
    -too busy during holidays.
-managers go through short training courses which mean they're learning as they become managers.
-Associates are pressured to do more things then they can realistically do such as recovering store and putting out put-backs.
-not enough associates to work each department which means that some employees are working two jobs at once such as customer servicing and recovering the store and being cashier while working/recovering women and kids areas, etc...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -need to improve theft prevention.

I have been working at Old Navy

    Pros

Old Navy has a great energy and pretty good starting pay rate. I would definitely recommend it as a first job!

    Cons

The policy at Old Navy for moving up in the company is very slow. It can take several years to get up to any managemnt positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay positive with feedback. I would recommend that the leaders pay their employees a litlle more in order to keep good employees with the company.
