you get what you pay for
Pros
Amazing co-workers
Family-type relationship with the whole staff
Everyone is there to help
Management is understanding to personal problems
Decent Discount
Decent Pay
Cons
Some managers shouldn't be in their position
The push for Old Navy Cards and E-mail capture gets very stressful
Won't give me hours I was originally hired on
Pay isn't given on performance
I have to train new employees and don't get any compensation
Advice to Senior Management
A few managers need to be reevaluated because we constantly get complaints about them being rude to customers. I have to train new employees on the register which means I have to take care of my customers as well as theirs without making somebody angry and impatient. Management always makes me feel guilty for not wanting to stay an extra 2 hours or for being sick and not coming in. The push for Old Navy Cards and E-mail Capture is too much. If I'm having a great conversation with a customer and they're having a good experience then the last thing they want is me to try and sell them something. 90% of customers HATE being asked and it ruins the "real conversation" experience that the company is trying to achieve.
Pros
employee discount you can use at Banana Republic and Gap, nice coworkers, location of store, breaks were included in shifts
Cons
changes in management caused a rift between associates and managers because the leaders would not stay constant for very long, working facilities
Advice to Senior Management
Keep inspiring employees to have fun at work and create a successful environment for the store, don't make employees hand out flyers
Pros
Fun work environment, Great benefits for full time associates, competitive salary.
Cons
Limited work hours, Have to work weekends
Advice to Senior Management
More education and training
Pros
Discount at gap and banana. Meet a few cool people and if lucky can make lasting relationships. Easy to get time off.
Cons
My experience with Old Navy was a nightmare that should of ended sooner. Disgustingly cheap. No raise even when accepting a higher position or responsibility. Shipment area was dangerous and management didn't care. Saw way too many people get injured. Management feeds you the things you want to hear yet they backstab each other and lie to your face over anything. Management enjoys the gossip and loves to get involved in petty drama. Hours are given only to favorites. Too many associates receiving little shifts, only to not receive a break. No morale or recognition. Lack of communication.Unrealistic goals. Human resources and hotline was a joke...Bottom line your boss determines whether it will be pleasant or misery.
Advice to Senior Management
Seems as though the company is taking a turn and not for the good. Treat your employees how you would want to be treated. Start fresh and get rid of the imcompetent managers who run the stores to the ground.
Pros
discount, decent hourly rate, somewhat flexible hours
Cons
unless you were slated for management, no growth
Pros
There isn't a day that is the same. You are constantly on the go, moving, doing something, so you won't get bored.
Good first job.
Cons
If you want to be a seasonal employee get ready for long hour shifts. I would suggest it if you didn't have another job. You can get really tired quickly if you have another job.
The store is dirty. I was coughing, had watery eyes, and constantly brushing of dust bunnies from clothes.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication is key to all employees. Some seasonal employees get some information and then another group gets another piece of information. It would help if more items were posted on the walls.
I would like more training on customer servicing and what to do in different situations.
Pros
Fair company, they care about what you need and try their hardest to work with you. They are also very organized and well structured.
Cons
Managers can be rude and not care at times about the employees. But that is just the store manager at my store, other stores are wonderful.
Advice to Senior Management
Make working here more fun! Also offer more back to the employees such as a dollar every time someone opens an Old Navy card.
Pros
discount, upbeat, nice people, easy to catch on
Cons
lot of work for the money, long hours, weird hours,
Advice to Senior Management
more balanced hours, dont pick favorites
