Pros
great opportunity growth with Gap Inc. family. fun friendly environment. look forward to going to work. co-workers are amazing. discount is amazing
Cons
my wage lower than desired
Advice to Senior Management
Please allow for training to be completed prior to putting new hires on the floor. Or at least offer more hours up front. Training process and beginning of funds to be generated takes much longer than desired.
Pros
Great pay and are very flexible with your schedule. They also allow you to take days off if you inform them ahead of time.
Cons
When it isn't busy the hours are seriously lacking. Dealing with some of the customers really get under your skin so if you are not a people person this job is not for you.
Advice to Senior Management
When Adjusting hours have everyone adjusted. Seeing someone have a 9 hour shift while you were adjusted for a 4 hour shift is very discouraging.
Pros
Opportunities for advancement
Good benefits package
Cons
Retail hours (late nights and weekends)
Advice to Senior Management
Streamline communication
Pros
The discounts are extremely generous. You get 25% off everything except clearance at Old Navy, 50% off Banana Republic and Gap (full priced items) and 30% off at the Outlets, 10% off of clearance. Great place to work if you like to shop but you will need another job or else you will be spending all your money in the store :-/
Cons
Not enough hours. They hire a lot of people, and they do not offer many hours. Unless you are a manager you will forever be a part-time worker.
Advice to Senior Management
You're doing a great job.
Pros
Learning how retail works, learning to deal with people in real world experiences, great job for young people either in college or in high school
Cons
Extremely low pay, degrading, nearly mind numbbing work.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers at this particular store (3376) were amazing. Although, sometimes I think the younger workers were often taken for granted.. And not given respect like the adult workers received
Pros
Old Navy was promoted a friendly atmosphere and was a great place to work as a young adult, especially while in school. They were fairly flexible with scheduling and the pay was fair. The discount at Old Navy, Gap, and Banana Republic was great (40%, 20%, and 20%). Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend it to others.
Cons
The store can get incredibly messy during the holiday season, and not everyone takes pride in keeping it clean. Also, it is really annoying to have to pressure of getting customers to sign up for the store credit cards in this economy. Or anytime really.
Advice to Senior Management
Management was generally friendly and respectful of employees. There were opportunities for employees to move up into store management after putting in the time and commitment. The management teams made it an enjoyable experience.
Pros
Hours are good
pay is decent
people can be ok
Cons
Too high of expectations
Finished task dont expect thanks, expect a lecture
someones always talking crap about you
Advice to Senior Management
get rid of older employees wasting payroll
assign reasonable time limits
be more understanding
do the work yourself....
Pros
They have one of the best starting pay rates for a mall retail company, started at 8.50 whereas Aeropastle tried to poach me from Old Navy offering minimum wage.
Cons
Working with a lot of disposable employees that generally don't pull their weight. My store was particularly annoying as we were a training store for managers so you often knew more than the managers did during your shift.
Advice to Senior Management
Sitting in the back playing board games while the rest of the employees are out on the floor is not an acceptable thing to do.
Pros
My co workers and sometimes managers are cool as well as the discount for clothes. Good place to work when you are just starting to get a job and get your feet wet.
Cons
Hire too many people, especially with Christmas coming. Stop giving people less hours and yelling at them for not finishing the job in such short time. You can't do go backs in 10 minutes if you haven't been working much.
Advice to Senior Management
Still need to figure out why managers come and go so much because it's annoying to have to get used to new managers. Need to not pressure managers so much and should try working at the store to see how hard it really is.
Pros
Great discount that could be used with great sales
Cons
Everything cleaning management and scheduling
Advice to Senior Management
Care more anout.the employees
