I love working for Old Navy, Gapinc. is a great company to work for.

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    Paramus, NJ

ProsThe managers and employees are very casual and allowed to express themselves. Old Navy does not discriminate at all and the staff is very diverse. They give good hours and are very organized. You meet with a manager at the beginning of your shift and they go over sales with you as well as how many Old Navy Cards we still need. They tell you what department you are in and you get to work. You get great discounts at Gap, Banana, and Old Navy.

ConsIt is hard to be promoted, there are team leaders which is more or less a key holder. Those people work the most hours and have been with the company for a long time, they most likely are going to continue to stay with the company and keep their position.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere should be a solid raise every year with the company, if it is understood that there was a 25 cent raise every year for example it would definitely be an incentive for employees to stay with the company.

If you want to have fun at work, and never want to leave, work here.

    Customer Service/Cashier (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsProgressive branch of the Gap. The best , fun, jenerous, team oriented company to their employees.

ConsConsider the years at the company and not the salary ceiling or the state.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo any company; Rehire people at a decent wage when they worked for a long time with the company.

    Sales Associate

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Staten Island, NY

ProsEmployee discount is great, lots of hours, tightly knit employee group, easy to transfer

ConsI would often get called in on my one day off and then have management upset with me if i couldn't come in. Sorry if my 50 hours a week at a barely above minimum wage salary isn't enough for you.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop playing favorites and avoid getting involved in the interpersonal drama between employees

Very short lived, Managers aren't well trained

Old Navy Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGood pay rate and nice employee's

ConsDiscount can be better, managers are inconsiderate and only care about themselves, drama within employees

Advice to Senior ManagementBeing a manager isn't all about "getting sales". You expect much from your employees and we expect the same back. Be more considerate.

    Merchandising Specialist (Former Employee)

ProsThe people!!! I've made life long friendships
The opportunities you can have only if there given because some management would like to hinder your career!!!

ConsManagement will select above everyone !!!! It was sad my Gm was talked about in every store I went too. It was embarrassing saying that I was from her store.
    Pay more !!!

Advice to Senior ManagementBring it back to when it was about the employees !!!! When the employees are happy the store runs better.
