Pros
Discounts @ Old Navy, Gap & Banana Republic
Nice coworkers
Get to help customers that appreciate it
Flexible hours
Casual dress code
Cons
Constant push to get customers to open credit cards or you'll be put on the 'wall of shame' list.
Messy customers who leave all the clothes of the floor in the dressing room.
Few hours scheduled, cannot survive on only 4 hours pay per week!
Lack of consistant training - everyone told different procedures to follow.
Store layout changes weekly making it difficult to help customers find things or put clothes back quickly, especially if you're only in the store 4 hours a week.
Having to answer the phone while cashiering.
Advice to Senior Management
Have a consistant training program for all employees - e.g. employee procedures handbook.
Provide a realistic # of scheduled hours per week.
Offer an incentive for those who open ONCs.
Have the store layout change less frequently - frustrating to customers & employees and inefficient.
Pros
Fun environment, respectful of lifestyles and individuals, large company with potential for ladder climbing, flexible hours,
Cons
no real opportunity for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
I found that store opportunities that I showed interest in were not made available for me to apply to if management had no interest in filling it. I received the highest possible annual raise for performance, yet new opportunities were held away from me. District management should be more thorough in overseeing oddities in stores.
Pros
Felixable schedule, room for growth
Cons
Having to work during holidays
Pros
Flexable hours for students and parents
Cons
Hard to advance within the company
Advice to Senior Management
Please hire more loyal employees.
Pros
Great Discounts and Very Easy
Cons
It gets Really Repetitive and old
Advice to Senior Management
Management is good at this location just some communication issues at times
Pros
The associates at Old Navy are nice.
Cons
Old Navy needs to improve on its clientele.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve on clothes
Pros
Flexible work schedule
Nice environment if you hire the right associates
Fun to merchandise the clothing and make things look great
Cons
Cliques
District Managers are now laid off and replaced by Regionals who are re-titled "market managers". 15% of the company's district managers were laid off.
No room for growth
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your store managers.
Pros
Fun Environment, nice people, looks good on a resume, customers are generally nice and understanding, managers are nice for the most part
Cons
Little to no training, unrealistic expectations (told to do work in an amount of time that it could never get done in),too much emphasis on getting the OCCs (people who never worked the cash register were getting chewed out for not getting any)
Advice to Senior Management
Give people more training. Don't hire so many people during the holidays. Have a little bit more understanding when it comes to your credit cards.
Pros
good discount
lax dress code
nice co-workers
Cons
higher management takes forever to get things done
too much focus on the credit card sales and not enough on employees skills elsewhere
they hire management from outside the company - rarely promote from within if at all
Advice to Senior Management
Actually offer opportunities to move up, many associates are asking for more responsibility and you don't give it to them while you sit and complain that you need more people to do exactly what they are asking to do. Upper management needs to spend time talking to employees when they visit the stores instead of spending the entire time with the managers.
Pros
Very good pay, sometimes provided food for lunch, you will encounter really nice people.
Cons
Doesnt really care about employees, blows you off when you have a problem, some managers had attitudes.
Advice to Senior Management
Needs to hire more managers that know how to run the store better, needs to treat the employees better.
