    I worked at Old Navy

    Pros

Pay was outstanding, people were incredible.

    Cons

Company is so hell bent on being ahead of national pay increases to part time employees, they are pushing out the top end managers, regardless of ability and results..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When decisions have a negative impact, even on a few, you can longer call it a win/win. Thanks for the 10 plus years of experience ......

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great people, flexible scheduling, fun environment. Base pay is above minimum and you get raises often.

    Cons

There are a lot of expectations in regards to selling, but commission isn't offered-- wish there was a bonus!

I worked at Old Navy part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great coworkers and extra money for the holidays completely made this job work. Not a bad puck at all for part time side work.

    Cons

This company has a stronger starting salary than most retailers. The price you pay, however, is that there are no set schedules. You leave well after the last customer leaves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Nothing at this time.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

My experience at ON has been that they will do almost anything if only to have a happy customer. Every policy is geared toward customer convenience, even the ones that benefit the company as well (i.e., cardholder incentives and upselling techniques). This makes it easy to work in retail because there's always a way to improve the experience for an agitated customer and by extension, yourself. The company discount is great as well.

    Cons

While Gap Inc. works hard to improve this- $9 or $10 an hour is still not enough to live on in most cities if you're supporting yourself. A job at ON is ideal for holiday part time work and an evening/weekend gig for students. But you won't be able to live off of it if you're paying rent and loans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Extend full time work to associates who are not managers. Providing benefits and a more stable amount of hours to your best employees will be an incentive to keep them with you for years, doing the best work they can for a quality company.

I worked at Old Navy part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was great pay for a seasonal job and the management was nice. Wanted to continue to work there longer due to the great team

    Cons

Did not get many hours and there was a management transition during the time. Scheduling could have been handled better

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent hours, great discount (at Gap and Banana too!)

You have an option to work as many hours as you can because there are always people giving up shifts.

    Cons

Top card earners make the same as employees who do nothing.

I'm a sellebrity coach with manager access on the register and assist in interviews and hiring selections yet I still make the same amount as the seasonal employees.

Depending on your management team you may have A LOT of pressure to sell Old Navy Cards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do something to make employees who earn ONCs more appreciated since this business clearly revolves around them.

I worked at Old Navy part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The discount, scheduling is very good, training depending on where it takes place is really good. The music they play is really good, and some of the people you meet.

    Cons

Having to deal with customers and bad management at times. But overall the company is well run and organized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and make employees feel important sometimes I just felt under appreciated.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The management at the store has been consistently fantastic. They are clear with expectations and objectives in every given shift. They are very flexible when it comes to students rearranging hours or returning only over their breaks.

    Cons

It is only a part time job so there are no benefits or perks associated with the position. However, Gap is leading the charge when it comes to increasing retail wages and is raising the minimum wage for all employees in 2014.
