I worked at Old Navy (more than an year)

    Pros

The employees were good to work with. Managers were understanding and flexible.
Mostly a fun and positive place to work.
    Good employee discounts.

    Cons

Hated how much they pushed the old Navy credit card.
Customers weren't always that polite. That's expected.
    Sometimes long hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax with the credit card. Worry more about employees.

I worked at Old Navy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Employee discount at all Gap Inc. stores was fantastic--largely the reason why I stayed on for so long. There is room to move up within the ranks relatively quickly (and at a young age) but favoritism is apparent.

    Cons

ON struggles with appropriate training. They ask all employees to be able to do just about anything at anytime, and often times employees aren't able to retain or grow skills when they jump around between disparate tasks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the associate training as growth process and allow people to hone their skills.

    Pros

good discount at gap, banana republic and old navy
    flexible hours
good benefits: paid time off, health insurance

    Cons

bad attitudes within team lead to an uncomfortable work environment
    low pay
management cared more about having low employee turnover than creating a good team

Fun people to work with, but pressured to open ON credit cards.

I worked at Old Navy part-time

    Pros

Great for part-time work while in school. Really flexible with scheduling and you're able to take long periods off. I think it was up to 3 months. I know a few people who worked once a month to keep their discount benefits. I also traveled for sports & they were extremely accommodating.

    Cons

The pay is terrible & the basic shirt wall or table is always a mess. I swear not even a minute after folding down a section, it was a mess. I will never work in retail again. There is always pressure to open an ON credit card.

    Pros

There is a good family/team nature and you get paid well for a part time job.

    Cons

The hours can be challenging. Sometimes you get to few of hours or you have to be there at 4am.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more promotion opportunities for sales associates.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Employee discount and great people. I enjoyed coming to work because I enjoy interacting with people, you are face to face with customers all day. You get a lot of hours during busy periods, but in the slow times of the year, sometimes you'll only get 4-10 hours per week.

    Cons

In my store we had poor upper management, some of them were unethical, and unprofessional, and held grudges against employees they didn't like or that upset them. It gets very busy at time, and my store has an extremely high employee turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being childish and be more professional.

    Pros

    Great co-workers and managers
Discounts at Old Navy, Gap, and Banana Republic
They allow you to request time off most of the time as long as you give an advance notice (I say most of the time because it gets harder to request time off during the holidays)

    Cons

Leaving work late at night, past the time you were scheduled.
Rarely get weekends or holidays off.
