    There's no place like home

Night Auditor (Former Employee) Indianapolis, IN

ProsOmni is phenomenal at taking candidates of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences and giving each person their best chance to excel. POWER OF ONE, allows even the newest hired of bellman or front desk agents to make decisive decisions regarding the hotels guests needs, using common sense and discretion without needing management approval. As in the world we live in, its better to make your own mistakes and attempt to fix them or learn how to fix them, than rely entirely on a superior to clean it up. Great at promoting from within, as i was several times during my time with Omni. They prepare associates from the start to be not just a team member, but a collection of leaders.

ConsAs guest tensions increase and tempers get hot, some employees find it more difficult to keep themselves or others around them cool and collected. It is important to keep associates content if not cordial in the working environment, and sometimes management turned a blind eye to associates needing resolution. Being that the guest comes first, its important to remember those who work well together, can provide better service for the guest. One coming into work with a happy attitude about who they work with, can drastically change the impressions left of numerous guests each day.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to promote from within and reward your associates on their performance. A company that goes out of its way for an associate hired a year ago, will maintain that associate longer than if hiring someone "interested in hospitality" with a minor degree. Power of One is unlike any perk provided within a company I have heard of, and is the first stone to a great construction- Independent and competent staff provide an efficient, smoother flow of company procedures.

Kinda like being back in high school

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Indianapolis, IN

ProsGood benefits, free lunch, great co workers

ConsToo many bosses that don't do anything, pay as little as possible, tiny tiny 3% (less than a dollar) raise yearly, and DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA. they have rules in the handbook but it doesn't matter if you break them. No room for job advancement, lots of back stabbing

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your pawns and take there ideas into consideration. Stop trying to be friends with everyone and wanting people to kiss up to you

Used to be a great company.

    Manager (Former Employee) Indianapolis, IN

ProsGreat culture. Free lunch. Career growth if you kiss up to the right people.
There are a few managers that are really great and are really good to the employees.

ConsPolitics and back-stabbing, no support from senior managers, poor behavior is allowed as long as you get good guest service scores.
There are managers that are aggressively trying to get rid of employees who've been at the hotel for many years. If you disagree with a certain manager you may as well write your resignation letter because she can make lives miserable.
Managers are required to work at least 50 hours a week but most often work 60 or more.

Advice to Senior ManagementLive the culture and treat people well and hold everyone to same standards.

    Acts like a high school

Guest Ambassador (Current Employee) Indianapolis, IN

ProsThe employees that had been there since the hotel's opening were absolutely wonderful.

ConsThe employees that had been there less than two years, not so much. The rooms division quickly became a large clique, pushing out anyone who didn't see eye to eye with them. Furthermore, internal personal relationships ruined a hotel with great potential.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep a closer eye on what goes on on a daily basis. When something does happen, be sure to get the opinion of all involved instead of just a few.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
