I worked at Omnicare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Co-workers
    10 hour days for pharmacists

    Cons

    Lay-offs
    Inadequate supplies
    Inadequate ordering
    Inadequate staffing
    Little to no training
    High turnover rate
    Unorganized management
    Low employee morale
Expensive benefits (and 100% employee pay for dental, vision, and short and long term disability)

Essentially this branch of omnicare will work you endlessly until you burn out and quit. I honestly have never worked at a place were the emoyees seem constantly unhappy and stressed about there jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Beyond help. My advise would be to cooperate: find new management!

I have been working at Omnicare full-time

    Pros

It's a paycheck, good people to work with, if they stick around

    Cons

Management more worried about the investors and their own stock options than taking care of their employees. Management trying to get out of their fancy offices to show they care, but it seems fake and contrived.

I have been working at Omnicare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

decent vacation time, access to affordable health care, some good coworkers, free coffee if you make it on your own time.

    Cons

the worst communication ever! no one relays important information to each other until the last possible minute. Lots of favoritism, coworker clichs, rampant gossip, barely functional equipment. pharmacists do as little as possible. never ever seen anything like it in all my years of work experience. management ignores problems. horrible morale, nothing done to improve work environment, no support from anyone in charge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to your employees. they have valid complaints. you lose good employees and show extreme favoritism to those who you feel are indispensible. all employees, including you, can be replaced.

I have been working at Omnicare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

i guess this would be subjective depending on whom you ask. a pro could be anything from eating lunch at your desk while surfing the internet to leaving at lunch to take care of errands.

    Cons

no flexibility in the schedule, there is no continuing education, standard benefits, below average salary; management doesn't manage

I have been working at Omnicare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay is good, but this is my first job at this level. Benefits aren't bad.
My techs are the best I've ever worked with.

    Cons

Every time something changes, it seems like we lose at our branch. We lost additional compensation for being on-call and having to come into work on nights/weekends. A week of on-call can be 90+ hours, and they want us to do more for free. Company promotes itself as employee-oriented, but they do not follow through in the least.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to (and LISTEN to) your staff at each location, not just those running the show at the hub pharmacy. Involve the people in decisions that affect them directly.
BE OPEN AND HONEST - there is a significant need to improve communications that should be front and center in all Management's mind.

I have been working at Omnicare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive, solid financials, ethical management, hard work is rewarded, compensation is fair. The new CEO, Nitin Sahney, has been meeting with employees, it seem very unscripted and it's refreshing. I think the company has a bright future and I'm excited to be part of it.

    Cons

Long hours, demanding schedules, benefits could be better and at times management could communicate better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent, tell us what's happening, use the culture survey results to actually address known issues.

    Pros

The people i get to work with everyday make the experience at Omnicare so unique. My mentors have provided me the tools to suceed and have taught me so much in my time here. From the managers to the director and Chief Audit Officer, they have all been such an asset to the winning culture at Omnicare and I look forward to working with them in the future.

    Cons

Training can be limited and HR needs an upgrade, but under the new leadership it is improving and i am confident that it will become a better place to work in the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep listening to your employees and making the changes to improve the culture.
