Pros
compensation package is great if you can get the products installed
Cons
can't get products installed and promotions are based on popularity not on performance
Advice to Senior Management
fix the operations and customer care departments...
Pros
Flexible schedules
employees( under management) are good to work with
Cons
no honest communication from upper management.
No consistency in decision making
A very VERY low sense of moral is felt throughout the company
Advice to Senior Management
Selling the company will be the smartest move made as long as the baggage stays behind
Pros
4 weeks PTO in the first year
Cons
Limited growth, communication, no training
Advice to Senior Management
Be honest and realistic.
Pros
the people that work there, the workers, really want to see the company grow and try really hard to get the job done with what we have.
Cons
the management team doesnt know what to do. Micro manangers, no leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
listen to the workers....
Pros
The good people you work with and the customers you get close to in a business sense.
Cons
Very poor managers and leadership there.
They had a big lay-off in 2006 and Columbia Ventures allowed middle management to decide who stays and who goes, huge mistake. The ones let go were the performers in favor of drinking buddies.
Advice to Senior Management
Ride that broken horse as long as possible because your skill set doesn't cut it.
Pros
Good amount of time off and good pay.
Cons
Terrible upper management. Driving the company into the ground.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a clue and a new job somewhere else.
Pros
Fantastic benefits, even after some reductions.
Cons
When layoffs come inevitably lurking time after time there are certain decisions in those who are let go that leave us scratching our heads and wondering what management could possibly have been thinking.
Advice to Senior Management
We would love some transparency in the rationale used in deciding who is laid off and who isn't.
Pros
Leadership team has a never-say-die attitude, even when it's already dead. Employees are great people, just trying to make ends meet.
Cons
-Leadership team has a never-say-die attitude, even when it's already dead.
-Too much political correctness. Upper management does not realize that to be "accountable" means that you can't always "play nice in the sandbox".
-The people that screw up aren't fired, they're promoted.
-Management level and up have no clue how to manage people or project, but have to stick their fingers into everything thereby screwing projects up.
-The company doesn't want the employees to listen to rumors, but they don't have the common courtesy to let employees know the truth. They'll feed them a song and dance and expect them to buy blue butter.
-Inconsistent rules for employees in regards to working from home. This is left up to managers' discretion. No blanket policy which allows for a lot of micro management.
-The ever-present "You should believe us because we said so" mentality
Advice to Senior Management
To the Board of Directors: Since the company is once again up for sale, get out or get rid of everyone from Howard on down to Director level and start over. Many Directors are not qualified to manage the departments that they are "directing".
Pros
Nice people, good working atmosphere. Relatively flexible hours and decent benefits.
Cons
Terrible leadership team. Truly running the company into the ground. They hire too many people they "know" and not enough people who know what they're doing. This company could be hugely successful with the right managers at the top.
Advice to Senior Management
Step down and replace yourselves with people who aren't incompetent.
Pros
Honestly, I struggled to find anything positive about working there outside of collecting a paycheck. 20 days PTO to start is about the only positive I can think of.
Cons
Training is abominable! Managers' awareness of the horrible training is not apparent. Senior management typically is only concerned with the balance sheets and not the day to day operations, which circles back to the lack of training. Met some nice people there but, oddly, most people there won't introduce themselves or even make eye-contact in passing. I found the overall experience of working there to be generally uncomfortable.
Advice to Senior Management
Establish a task force geared solely toward getting the whole place trained so that you can have an edge on yor competition based on improving the customer experience. In the world of telecom one company's product is not any different than the competition's product, it's all the same stuff. The customer experience is what makes the difference and it is well-trained employees that give you that result.
