Overall a great place to work and develop a career

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Flexible with vacation, fair compensation, fair promotions, and everyone is really nice to one another at the workplace and are more than willing to help each other out

    Cons

Some of the work is not very engaging. Some days are much slower than others. Still somewhat in "start up mode"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more training programs for employees. Make clear the goals of the organization in both the short and long term.

    Pros

This is a great place to work. Decent salaries and wonderful co-workers and HR staff.

    Cons

Some team leaders can be a little full of themselves but most everyone is cool.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay can always be better and more room for advancement

    Pros

Nice people, nice location (pasadena, ca)

    Cons

Since it's a privately held company, there isn't a whole lot of communication top down. There are a lot of changes that happen within the organization that nobody knows about until the last minute.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communicate better with your employees.

Former Employee - Relationship Associate in Redondo Beach, CA

    Pros

Clients are great, co-workers are great, relaxed work environment. Not as crazy in terms of sales goals like Wells Fargo or Citi bank, etc.

    Cons

Management from top down is incompetent. Regional management was moved around, thinned and replaced with people that only care about sales. They say they care about creating relationships with clients but their motives are purely based on sales and profit. The company is changing rapidly for the worse, mostly because they are looking to sell their assets soon.

Pay is also well below par for comparable work at other banks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation is severely lacking, as well as regional management policies and procedures. Regional management doesn't care about the customers needs, only making sales, as was abundantly clear in multiple branch visits and customer interaction reviews.

Great people, good leadership, company in transition

Current Employee - Manager  in  Pasadena, CA
Current Employee - Manager in Pasadena, CA

    Pros

Great people, seems like during the transition from IndyMac only the best people remained. Nice work-life balance, no micromanagment. Management doing the best they can to allow you to develop yourself according to your interests.

    Cons

Conservative culture (well, it's a bank), company is still in transition from mortgage bank to commercial bank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing in terms of employee relations. In terms of strategy, I have no idea

Current Employee - Assistant Branch Manager

    Pros

Flexible hours, great work friends. Nice interaction with clients and building relationships with them. I really like the incentive component for branch employees.

    Cons

Hourly pay is crummy. Lots of favoritism going on within the company. The company does not like to spend money on employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to employees

    No Future

    • Senior Management
    • Culture & Values
    • Career Opportunities
Former Employee - Manager  in  Pasadena, CA
Former Employee - Manager in Pasadena, CA

    Pros

There is a minority of employees who are professional and talented

    Cons

Lack of cooperation between the different departments makes working there extremely difficult
    Lack of standards
Lack of honesty amongst many of the employees at all levels
Managing through politics and favoritism and not merit
Rotating in and out 1/3 of there staff every year is not a indication of a healthy and productive environment
Cost saving initiatives that only impact employees at a lower level while waste is prevalent at the senior management level and above.
Low moral given the fact that the company's directive is to benefit the small investor group by giving a return on there investment as quickly as possible and not investing in the future because the true end state is to sell the company and not grow it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop touting that your employees are your greatest asset. Your actions are contrary to that statement. The lack of communication and secrecy only fosters animosity and doubt throughout the organization. It is clear that those that were part of the original investment team have benefited greatly from the acquisition of Indymac Bank.
