Pros
This employer shares qualities with many other government institutions. There is great flexibility, in what you can do and job security is all but assured. The people the are great, they are a patient, smart and helpful bunch. I honestly have never worked with a nicer group. This place would be great for someone who likes dependability in the workplace.
Cons
Unfortunately this employer also shares the same pitfalls of other government institutions. It is very bureaucratic, slow and disorganized. Many people did not have a defined role, they simply assumed tasks as they see fit. I had six layers of management ahead of me. As you went up each level the duties and authorities of each manager became even more convoluted. One guy whom I talked to who was third from the minister could not explain in clear words what he does. How he filled his day was a mystery to me. Furthermore, you could not get a IT guy to save you life. There were two IT people for 80 of us in our section. It was impossible to get their help on anything as they were too busy. This is not a great place if you want to get things done.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to reshape objectives of the ministry
