    Pros

Compensation was very competitive. They are actively investing in operations, so you get lots of support on the local level for investment.

    Cons

Some people at Group are severly overpaid for what they contribute. They have created a central beuracracy that can slow operational decisions down

    Advice to Management

Don't second guess every operational decision. Hire people you trust, give them authority, and hold them accountable.

    Pros

Reasonable pay package. Opportunities to work in multiple markets and working in a multi-cultural environment

    Cons

Ooredoo is still maturing as a company and people from strong Telco. backgrounds tend to be a little disappointed with the processes and company evolution. Doha HQ tends to be a difficult environment as a family station due to limited lifestyle options and harsh weather.

    Advice to Management

Focus on building a culture and the procedural kinks will iron out themselves. Stronger tie in to the culture with the employees will only be once the resource mix is truly understood

Biased Performance management. The higher ratings distributed among top management.
Lack of management support and lack of decision making at other levels.
Too many layers in the hierarchical level management.

    Advice to Management

Fewer levels of management encourage an easier decision-making process among employees.

    Pros

    The country
    The people of Myanmar
    The culture of Myanmar
    Decent base wages

    Cons

Contract issues, miscommunications, poor communication once company grew over a few hundred staff members, didn't pay bonuses as promised despite staff flogging themselves for 6 and 7 days a week and putting in huge hours, many contract aspects refuted or not honored and many aggrieved locals.
Expats got contracts terminated left right and centre and some haven't still been paid their basic entitlements. Worst HR department you will ever come across. Never respond to emails and never answer to issues. Disrespectful of local staff and don't function as a team.
Issues with allocated drivers IF you were lucky enough to get one, mine was promised in my contract but not honored and I had to live in a container, like human cattle because my allowance couldn't afford me a house or an apartment.
Absolute nightmare of a working experience.

    Advice to Management

Get the contracts right. Honor what you write and if you expect to grow quickly be ready for that. The CEO got off lightly because the sales were a success but the company was a mess as evidenced by Telenor smashing us on sales. Good time to jump and go get more money elsewhere before people start to scratch below the surface. Smart CEO.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Tax-free salary, good working hours, good leave allocation. Nice, modern office environment, with most facilities available on-site, e.g. cafeteria, parking, banking etc.

    Cons

Bureaucratic with slow decision making process. Limited budgetary control of departmental budgets as Finance had too much power. Poor procurement and payment processes. Top management only in position because they were country nationals, not because they had the skills, experience or drive to fulfil the role. Limited transparency around decisions and information sharing - generally a toxic environment to work in.

    Advice to Management

Promote people on ability not time in role or nationality. Try and adopt best practice management, for example, simple things like actually walking around the floors where employees work and occasionally talking to them instead of sitting on the top floor of the building and never leaving it except in your private lift avoiding other employees!

    Pros

The best place if you want to learn latest technology in the telco and NGN.
Company pushes to always keep up with the latest best practise feature and technology.

    Cons

So many new organisation structures were initiated without clear roadmap. Many new manager with vast authority but no accountability

    Advice to Management

Always recruit the best fresh graduate to keep up with the competition and have well structured development plan for technology people
