I have been working at Open Systems Technologies (NYC) as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Recruiter was a nice guy. Same listings as everyone else. They pay.

    Cons

This recruiting company is ok. I never really put much thought into who I was consulting through because it was pretty standard. Invoice, get paid. But, now it seems like they are playing games around consultant paid sick days that is not mandated in NYC. Its already been over a month and a half and still getting the run around.

I have tried to get clarifications, although via several of the employees there, it is a very very painful process. If you are consulting, at your own risk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at the people who are working in hr? Why are you having consultants doing the job of first level HR individuals when all of the required information is already available to them?

I worked at Open Systems Technologies (NYC)

    Pros

There were no Pros working for this company. I base this off of the other jobs that I have had in my 15 year recruiting career.

    Cons

This is the most micro-managed company that I have ever work for or known about. My manager at the time was not only a micro-manager but he was unprofessional and bad person.
Open Systems works their people to death and their office at the time was a dump.
When I left the company they still owed my $2000 worth of commissions. I tried working with the employees at Corporate and was treated terribly when I could get them on the phone and then was often ignored and given the run around. I never got the money they owed me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a better management team. get a better benefits plan. Treat your employees with respect.

I worked at Open Systems Technologies (NYC) full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Pay Recruiters and Account Managers above industry average base salaries.

    Cons

The vast majority of Recruiters and Account Managers have very little to no drive or motivation.

HR is very unprofessional and difficult to work with.

Massive internal layoffs. In less than 2 years one office went from 20 to 1.

Commission checks very rarely paid correctly and on time.

Reporting structure can literally change multiple times within a month.

Getting new business is not a priority but on managing current accounts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recruit internal employees out of other companies not just hire whoever is in the market and not working.

    Get a training program together.

When you make a plan stick with it. It's frustrating going back and forth to the "way it used to be" when the process was broken to begin with.
