Pros
Some fun people to work with.
Environment can be fun at times.
Some opportunities to make good money.
Good benefits.
Plenty of time off.
Cons
Like any other sales job if you do too well, your goals will spike and you won't make any money the next month.
New corporate merger is scary and most people have no idea what is going to happen or if they will have a job in the future.
Management seems to enjoy using fear to inspire harder work.
Advice to Senior Management
Tell us what's going on. Sure, you might lose some people, but those that stay won't waste half their day stressing over what all the closed door meetings are about. And I know you know this, but make the sales goals realistic.
Pros
some flexibility with time, but no regard for deadlines
Cons
laxadasicsal, leading to some tough driving of deadlines
Advice to Senior Management
listen to your people - be open and honest with them!
Pros
great co-workers and good benifits
Cons
management set in there ways of doing things-used to be more up beat
Advice to Senior Management
listen to the emplyees in the trenches
Pros
Definitely money. They are not high tech company, not having interesting product, work is pretty much reduced to mundane tasks month after month... so to keep people there, they pay well in engineering department.
Cons
There are no managers in eng department. Just technical leads and directors. Probably good way to save money for the company, however for employees it is not so great. Director never has enough time to do reviews well, does not provide guidance or satisfactory problem resolution if such arises inside a team.
Also in order to be considered valuable to the company one has to conform to all decisions of upper management even if they are bad. There is no space for creativity and invention, changes are not well seen.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more down to earth, talk to people who work for you, pay attention to details when doing reorg/layoffs.
