Former Employee – worked at Oplink Communications full-time for less than a year
Pros – great opportunity to work with team full of very nice people; great opportunity to fill up those boring Saturdays by working the expected 6 days a week. great opportunity to enjoy Chinese food & culture, free dinner daily; immersion technique to learn Mandarin. nicest co-workers, I will miss them.
Cons – do not expect normal business processes, reasonable project timelines, collateral approval process, or work issue resolution. only 1 persons opinion matters, and it will not be yours, even if it's under your area of responsibility. having lunch in groups with co-workers outside of office is discouraged to the point of being feared.
Advice to Senior Management – there is no point giving advice to management. they know what the problem is and make excuses for it every day, but they can not do anything about it.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
