Pros
growth oportunity in this company is excellent
Cons
similar to other employers, sometimes the worst part about working here is the competency level of coworkers
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to promote talented individuals
Pros
Projects are interesting and challenging. Management seems to genuinely care about people. Salaries are good, bonus money is good.
Cons
As the company has grown, more and more process is being put in place, to the point that developers, engineers architects are spending more then half their time not delivering any value. Very difficult environment to innovate or really shine.
Advice to Senior Management
Really put an effort into streamlining processes, rather then trying to measure productivity.
Pros
a large company with lots of opportunities
Cons
Individual managers vary greatly, 70 hr weeks were the norm for mine as I worked remotely and she could ask this. An ultimate slave driver who often took off Fridays and did not respond. Remote office set up took weeks to configure. Time zones meant nothing. Far too many projects, needed more staff and budget. Mergers with other groups made it hard to navigate. This was not shared during the interview process.
Advice to Senior Management
Observe Sr. Manager/Director attrition stats.
Pros
Work-life balance; paid time off is adequate; many opportunities to work in different business areas; working remotely in some areas allowed.
Cons
Very slow-paced development; some office locations are antiquated; too document focused and not enough execution; a lot of leadership roles that are dead weight.
Advice to Senior Management
Make goals actionable and measurable for objective review at employee evaluation time; create better office environments; more career paths defined.
Pros
The PTO given once you have 5 years of experience is great, 28 days. Management is very flexible in regards to time off for family/personal needs. Some telecommuting is allowed. It is an easy place to work if you are a high performer, as you will be able to outwork the many mediocre people here in 10 to 15 hours per week.
Cons
There is no longer any business growth, so advancement opportunities do not exist. Many of your peers will be completely incompetent, so you will be asked to fill in the gaps that they create. Management does not hold incompetent people accountable, but they will micro-manage high performers.
Advice to Senior Management
Trim the fat. There are so many people that add no value to the teams. They just make high performers miserable and growth impossible.
Pros
Smart people
Acquisitions have good potential
Cons
lack of integration undermines potential value
Pros
* Competitive Salary
* Reasonable Personal Time Off
Cons
* No Advancement
* OVER WORKED
* Little Support from Management
* No Life/Work Balance
* Very Political
* Need to Kiss some "back sides" for Advancement
* No Real Direction from Upper Management
* Prejudice
Pros
Opportunity to buy UHG stock. Severance package.
Cons
Ingenix takes over thriving small companies and crushes them with their total commitment to profit at the expense of customer satisfaction and employee retention.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees. Learn their names. Listen to their input. Work on site and don't make decisions based on spreadsheets. Value your customer and listen to their needs. You can't improve production with threats and fear.
Pros
All of the employees are hard workers and are honestly doing the best they can given the lack of effective leadership.
Cons
Management is overbearing and micro-managing. The entire management staff are all really good friends. Employees reporting to them are "nobodies".
Advice to Senior Management
Check turnover rates for each manager. The number should speak for itself.
Pros
- Great PTO (no sick time, that means you can take more PTO for vacation. If < 5 yrs = 23 days, if more = 28 days.
- Modern and clean office.
- Big company, fortune 100.
- 401K match up to 3.5% if you put 6% max.
- ESPP, 15% discounted
Cons
- As part of United Health Care, don't expect you'll get top of the line health insurance. HSA with outrageous deductible is a common option there.
- Company is a little top heavy. Change of management occurs quite often.
- Career growth is rather limited. Don't expect to jump 2 grade levels easily even if you qualify for a new job. They are notorious to hire outsiders than giving insiders the opportunity to move for another internal job.
- Happen to some people, when they found a better job offer outside the company, mgmt tried to retain you by luring you a little more money... but by that time it's too late already. They should have treated you better if you're a performer. But as many have said, most of the times if you do good work you're just an average person with so-so raise and bonus.
