I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Work from home, flexible, great technology. If you have a good manager it can be a relatively low stress, rewarding job. Decent benefits (for now). Good name on resume.

    Cons

Extremely bureaucratic, lots of administrative busy work that gets in the way of real work.

Negotiate hard up front because you aren't going to get a raise unless you leave and get hired back. Top talent leaving in droves because they don't keep compensation even remotely in line with market. Actually made an across the board pay CUT last year (took away car allowance). Promotions are difficult and political, and only get you a small increase to your potential bonus.

Paid hourly. When I was hired they stated a certain amount of targeted approved over-time built in to the total compensation offer - this is not the case. Overtime is heavily scrutinized by upper management to further reduce compensation/costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop cost cutting! You are driving away your best employees and are left with the go-along-get-along crowd who are just hiding until retirement. It is having a tangible effect on sales effectiveness and revenue. Myself and others I know are simply sticking it out a little longer before looking for another job if things don't improve.

    Pros

Great technology, good compensation and nothing else comes to mind.
    That's all

    Cons

Like working for the gov't. Top down mgmt that listens to know what and thus out of touch with the market. Keep bad news to yourself

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At least pretend you are listening to your employees.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They pay Sales Reps very well, so if you work hard and don't mind being looked down upon by your co-workers or customers, go for it. This of course depends on the territory you are given which is all determined by how well you are able to negotiate up front with management. Beware an open territory though!

    Cons

There are no morals or ethics and reps back stab each other at every turn.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put split agreements in place early and often or do not engage in the deal.

    Pros

    Reasonable salary, Good Training facilities

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy, Advancement is not easy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should realize the potential and look at the work of individual and credit individuals. The promotions are often given based on relations with immediate bosses and not based on the capability, skill levels of individuals

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I get to work with VERY INCREDIBLY SMART people. These keep you motivated to do a better job than you did the day before. I like it here

    Cons

Can be very demanding on work life balance - especially if you have a young family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

These acquisitions are going crazy. At some point we have to start coming up with new technologies organically versus buying all these companies out only to have redundancies in many core areas.

Selfish and arrogant environment where negativity and blame run rampant.

I worked at Oracle full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great sales training. Good benefits and compensation. Quality technology. Methods for meeting preparation/ presentations are very good. Good account planning processes.

    Cons

Majority of co-workers & management are selfish with no regard for teaming-to-win collaboration. Customers always came LAST at this company. A very self-help type work environment where assistance or guidance is non-existant. Management style is to grind down Sales reps rather than build them up. Inside Sales counterparts compete for same customers with Field Reps resulting in no mutual trust. Account assignments are set in stone with no flexibility for reseeding. Success can be very difficult if you do not have executive support to pull you along. In my opinion, this is a company where your ethical conscience is constantly pressed and tested.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your hands dirty and show you're able to help your team. Too much dictating and not enough leadership by example. Praise for a job well done goes a long way.
