Pros
Pay was decent...however very few raises. Work/life balance was good. Working from home for the most part.
Cons
Hard to move up within the company
Pros
Expense policy was fair and compensation was about average. Network access and laptop was sufficient for the job. No real allowances for working out of a home office.
Cons
Constantly having to find creative ways to settle down clients who were over promised technical and application abilities by sales. Once you get to the Director level if you want to advance you better start showing the ability to "bury" people. You won't make it to a higher level without being ultra aggressive to the point of hurting others careers.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize that clients have options in the market. While terms and conditions will lock client in place for a period of time it will not be forever. I would advise on treating all ranks of employees with respect but know that advice would not be acknowledged or considered.
Pros
Remain knowledge as storage capacities were developed
Cons
Promotions were based on friendships rather than skill
Pros
Product based and reputed company with focus on latest technology
Cons
Consulting is not a growing business within Oracle without any objectives
Pros
Remote work. Travel to client sites only on a need basis. Excellent co-ordination between all consultants working in the team.
Cons
Not much respect and care given for employees continuance/
Advice to Senior Management
Oracle is loosing lot of man power and the attrition rate is higher. Please take care of the employees.
Pros
They truly enable their people. You need to be a self starter or you will sink. Its a tough environment but its because of that environment that Oracle succeeds.
Cons
Stress. Its a highly competitive environment. There so much to learn and do and only so many hours in a day.
Advice to Senior Management
Please don't begin to operate as HP does. I know folks who say its very disjointed. I think we need to continue to bridge the knowledge gap between the groups across Oracle.
Pros
Pays well, rpogressive company that trys to stay at the leading edge of technology. The people you work with are typically experts at what they do.
Cons
The work can become tedious and frustrating due to heavy input from the legal department when it comes to completing contracts.
Advice to Senior Management
Management understands the goal but could do better at keeping customers first.
Pros
I have found senior mgmt. to be very supportive. The mgmt. team is very good at reaching out to the rank and file.
Cons
It can be hard to move up in company. There is no clear career track to make vertical moves within company.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be for Senior mgmt. to communicate to mid mgmt. how important it is to let employees know what career paths are available for them.
Pros
- Excellent Products that lead the marketplace and good Research & Development tied in with Product Marketing
- Great People that are smart and hungry to succeed.
Cons
- Commission pay decreased and annual quota increased are unattainable
- Sales Driven Culture that does not allow the opportunity to build long lasting relationships with the customers. Quarter by Quarter sales focused and lack of true customer services and appreciation.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership team needs to allow for Technology Sales Managers the opportunity to build a business over time as long as qualified pipeline is being built and processed through the funnel for closure. Need to focus more on balance of work and personal life for sales folks. The employees are treated better if they are not the sales folks. Consulting, Sales Consulting, etc
Pros
flexibility in work schedule and world class customers, products and colleagues.
Cons
hard to find the right information and / or right contacts
Advice to Senior Management
increase product and industry knowledge in the field organization, eliminate "survival of the fittest" approach to product development by making sure that the fullest complement of resources are behind the best possible solution.
