I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great brand name. Lots of training; Opportunity to learn and make mistakes with limited risk at a extremely well-established company.

    Cons

Heavy processes. Not a dynamic company to fix situations. A lot of luck is involved. Territories are not created equal in terms of opportunity or budget - being the hardest worker doesn't guarantee success.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Incentivize teams, not individuals if you want collaboration and to keep your existing clients.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Benefits
    - Work life balance
    - Free soda and drinks
    - $6500 cappuccino machine (warning: addicting)

    Cons

    - "Dog eat dog" atmosphere
    - Siloed orgs cause miscommunication and customer dissatisfaction in delivering a stream-lined message to the customer
    - Company does not value nor respect its employees (i.e. I was transferred to an entirely different sales org two days before I officially started. Nobody even told me. I looked myself up in the corporate directory to find out.)
    - Politics can screw you...watch out
    - High turnover
    - Culture? What culture?
    - Internal competition

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

My company was acquired by Oracle and, thankfully, they largely left the engineering team intact. Not a horrible place to be. Benefits are decent for a company of this size.

    Cons

Oracle is focused on quantifying and maximizing revenue per employee, and less on retaining good talent. Lots of quantitative systems in place to track performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It costs in the long run a helluva lot more to train a new, albeit less expensive, employee than it does to retain an experienced quality employee.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good Insurance Policy and benefits. Job security.

    Cons

Absolutely no growth for technical people. No training for onsite people. No salary hike. Employeer growth, salary, Green card processing everything depends on the supervisor mercy though best policies are in place. If you want to take technical ladder in your career , then this is not the right place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on getting new projects and grooming technical skills inside the organization. Reward the technical architects on par with manager.
