    Pros

OCS has provided fantastic opportunities to gain valuable Oracle Apps domain expertise through interaction with sales, product strategy and development and support.

I would always recommend working with Oracle for those that use the software and hardware; many many great people work at this company.

    Cons

very unclear career path and need to recognize that when consulting group is at cross-purposes with Oracle Corp, then Oracle Corp wins.

Often a strained dynamic between OCS and license sales.

    I worked at Oracle

    Pros

I was part of Support team for organization which Oracle recently purchased.
Knowledge gained was valuable as a skillset.

    Cons

Very high pressure environment, with most upward mobility coming from outside the organization.

    Advice to Management

Allow workers with passion the financial incentives to stay with company or else suffer the high turn-over rate.

    Pros

Quite a lot of training is available. So if you want to learn it is a good place. However, they didn't hire any entry level people for many many years, so good luck with that. I was in the support Area, perhaps it is different in other divisions.

    Cons

For a company whose only REAL asset is people, they treat the employees pretty badly. Pay increases are few and far between, bonus usually none or small. Benefits cut year after year. Job security is non-existant. Layoffs very common place.

The entire company is silo'd. Very hard to move around, left and right hand don't know, etc. You are pigeon holed as to you capabilities are only what you are already doing.

I could go on, but you get the picture

    Advice to Management

Some simple and basic stuff would be a good start: Annual cost of living increase should be the rule, not the exception. Treat employees as people with value, not replaceable resources. Hire the occasional entry level person.

    Pros

RRSP employer contributions / possible yearly bonus / all the hardware is provided (laptops, screens, dock stations, etc).

    Cons

Salary raise is limited to job titles, job promotions does not go with salary increase, such a big organization making rapid changes are often very difficult. Self-service lacks of user friendliness.

    Advice to Management

Follow up on career opportunities is very primitive. Oracle university and career advancement plaftorm is anything but user friendly (even for a young employee with great understanding of technology and IT processes).

    Pros

Help customers improve their Oracle knowledge. Work life balance is very good with Flex Office capability. Opportunities to be creative & drive growth are available if you wish to be entrepreneurial.

    Cons

Salary increases are near impossible for employees, even with a promotion in many cases.

    Advice to Management

Insist on allowing salary increases for top performers or they will continue to leave the company for competitors.

    Pros

I really like the fact that it is easy to have a work life balance at Oracle. I can manage my schedule as needed. We are treated as mature professionals, as long as our work gets done. The benefits are also good in comparison to the market.

    Cons

Oracle is a very big company and everything is very siloed. It is very challenging to have cross-functional collaboration between departments as no one reallly talks. Everyone does their own thing, which sometimes gives the impression that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and especially your customers.

    Pros

Lots of opportunities for growth, autonomy, and cross functional enablement.

    Cons

System processes are cumbersome, and it is a large organization making it diffcult in some cases to get things done quickly.
