I have been working at Oracle full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity for working at home and flexibility. Depending on manager, it can be a very independent working environment. Fast-paced with lots going on. I have held multiple jobs within Oracle so there is a lot of room to bounce around.

    Cons

Not very easy to make more money as an admin. Raises to not come along very often within the same role so you are "forced" to move jobs if you want a higher income.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Resources, training and nice people

    Cons

Terrible management that promotes internal competition and back stabbing, overlapping technology that confuses customers, cult-like culture with zero work-life balance, incredibly screwed up processes and a compensation plan that is written to keep sales reps from making any money.

    Advice to Management

Not sure I'd give any advice to Hurd or Olsen. They are the problem and their egos have gotten in the way of running an efficient business.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Less corporately regulated than most larger companies. Terrific work environment. Great perks in the office and flexible schedule.

    Cons

Upper management nitpicks numbers and quotas. Middle management is poor, and is a glorified telephone game, relaying the concentration on hitting metrics again and again, even when it may be out of your own control.

    Advice to Management

Stop concentrating on numbers and look at customer satisfaction.

    Pros

Oracle is a great company with solid name recognition and branding. Most candidates will take your call due to name recognition which is great.

    Cons

Very big company with a lot of methods and processes. At times can be difficult to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Make an effort to have the employees know that they are more than a number!

I have been working at Oracle (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They let you telecommute, work from home (but they don't pay for the internet access). The health care plans are decent.

    Cons

They raise salaries very infrequently, like every three-four years, and then only a MAX of 1%, not even keeping up with inflation. Even after getting a "promotion," the salaries remain flat. The max vacation is a paltry 3 weeks.

    Advice to Management

At the very minimum, you have to keep the salaries in pace with inflation, otherwise the employees will leave. Realistically you need to reward performance with raises, otherwise the employees will not stay more than 3 years.

    Pros

The people who we work with make it more enjoyable to come to the office each day. The work environment is one that generates collaboration and innovation among teams.

    Cons

Positives outweigh negative in work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Oracle has a tendency to apply processes to all lines of business rather that giving power to individual companies. What made us successful as small companies is being pulled away to meet standards that are not as regimented as we were before.
