Pros
Challenging yet rewarding. A Stable company with year over year growth. Decent balance of work and personal life. Good benefits.
Cons
Vacation benefit is average, at best. In my role, pay raises are non-existent. Bonuses can be very good, but considering they are based on variables outside my control, bonuses can go down even though business and personal performance goes up
Pros
Competitive in a good way, Pay is fair for work done, Career development encouraged but a lot of stiff competition for open positions.
Cons
Internal processes can be cumbersome, Very large organization riddled with robotic policies regarding people decisions, tons of meetings that don't necessarily apply to all when required to attend.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiring salespeople without business acumen and strong business ethics. Too many "gunslingers" allowed to sell on behalf of Oracle under shady pretenses and then leave before the customer fallout. But, keep buying the best, making it your own and bullying everyone else in the industry, It keeps our competitors tap-dancing and our customers with the best.
Pros
Benefits

It was a very good work experience for me at Oracle. It is my dream company.
Cons

I an looking for more growth opportunities in side oracle and on the Compensation
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
The company is so large that if your main concern is stability, this would be the number 1 choice to be in MN. Oracle is an international company as well, so people have found positions in Oracle offices around the world. Workplace is Diverse and the people are great to work with. I Tele-commute 3 days a week with some of my co-workers doing it full time. So this is a great work at home position that allows me flexibility to be with my family.
Cons
Its Big, so big that sometimes you feel like you can't make a difference. The bureaucracy also makes it hard to move around to other positions that you desire. In addition, once you have obtained the position, it may take another 6-12 months for the approval process to complete before you can start your new position.
Advice to Senior Management
There is not much I can advise as I firmly believe my direct manager is doing all he can fairly with the resources he is given, It's the top management that needs to be more generous with the raises and moving faster when it comes to internal employee hires. But over all, I am happy.
Pros
excellent work life balance can be seen, nice team work, relaxed atmosphere, flexible, humane, good team members, overall good experience
Cons
no pay hikes and quick promotions, lacks management direction and discipline, no clear roadmap for the company, no townhall meetings on a regular basis.
Advice to Senior Management
work harder please, your employees are ready to work hard and prove themselves, give them a chance by getting more business.
Pros
Smart people, good salary, predictable schedule.
Cons
Not a place that values design/designers.
Pros
1. Initially, you can negotiate a good salary.
2. Some really smart people work here.
3. Looks good on a resume, "punches your ticket"
Cons
There is very little planned leadership or accountability. Crisis Management seems to rule the day. If someones continually screws up as an employee or a manager, no one takes the time to address the issue or fix the problem.
A very ethically-challenged organization. You are required to take ethics training every 2 years, and you just look around and see all of the violations. Some are downright criminal. But what do you do when Larry himself has a enormous conflict of interest (see NetSuite)? I also don't trust the anonymity of the tool used to report violations.
The company loves to offshore and use H1-B workers. The problem here is they seem to hire very incompetent people. Your job will be to put out fires that they create.
Middle Management knows whats going on, but has no authority to do anything. Whether it is rewarding job performance, hiring or firing people, everything is run from the top. This means you get the same bonus at the guy who shows up to work 3 days a week. This also makes it very undesirable to pursue a career here.
Advice to Senior Management
Accountability is huge for employee morale, slow down and figure out why you are putting out fires continually and correct the problems.
Cheap offshore labor conflicts with the law of supply and demand. You get what you pay for. Figure out what the real cost is of using cheap labor. Flying people highly-trained individuals to client sites ain't cheap. Getting sued by companies for having crappy software ain't cheap. Also, I believe our poor reputation will catch up with us.
Layoff decisions should not be made by people who don't know who the productive employees are. If your not allowed to tell the middle managers, ask them who there best employees are. Also, who lays people off on Tuesday? Why the surprise attack? Pick up an "HR for Dummies" book.
Quit hiring and keeping your poor-performing friends as management.
FYI, the corporate card is not your personal piggy bank. I don't like seeing you bust out the corporate card for an after work gathering. I make less money then you, I pay for my drinks at happy hour, you can too.
Pros
Flexibility with time off and family considerations, ability to make your own schedule.
Excellent health care and 401(k) plan with up to 3% match.
Opportunities to get extended learning.
Micro-management was kept to a minimum.
Team outings are encouraged.
Cons
Late nights communications needed with off-shore teams. Target dates had to be re-evaluated because complex integrations were not thoroughly evaluated.
There were not sponsored workout facilities.
Vacation time is capped at 3 years.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be growth opportunities for employees to feel valued.
Pros
Excellent medical benefits that are very generous. Large company with staying power and continued growth in the future. Potential ability to move into new roles if you are motivated
Cons
Overspecialization of the sales force causes negative customer relationships. Many conflicting agendas to continually navigate. Poor pay for internally promoted people
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out that the focus should be on helping customers and not gouging them year after year. Business practices are often confusing and unfairly applied at the customer level
Pros
Great benefits. Flexible hours. Nice to have the Oracle name on the resume for other opportunities. Have a large book of solutions to offer
Cons
Little to no recognition. Extremely limited commission. Little room to advance unless you want to manage. Politics play a key role in advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Have a more competitive comp package and more career advancement opportunities so good people don't keep leaving. Micro managing and call stat numbers will keep driving employees away
