Good work-life balance, benefits, but very limited salary adjustments and promotions, especially in the US.

I have been working at Oracle full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good work-life balance, flexible working hours, laid-back management style, challenging work, good benefits, smart people to work with, flexible time-off policies

    Cons

Limited promotion, stagnant compensation, only higher ups benefit from stock buybacks since it pads their stock options, which most regular employees do not get. Capped vacation days at 18 days forever. Only 7 observed holidays. Quite a few employees are likely not reporting vacation days due to the low number given by the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote the good people so that they stay and the expertise does not walk out the door. Adjust compensation to account for, at least, cost of living adjustments. Consider increasing vacation days to, at least, an additional 5 days especially considering observed holidays is on the low side. Hire more people in the US instead of outsourcing. US employees pay US taxes and contribute to US economy.

I have been working at Oracle full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexibility is here but in the summer policies are changing. The job is stable and people who are working have been generally here 10+ years.

    Cons

Absolutely no growth opportunity to move across groups or change in Pay. Very few raises if any. Literally have to wait for someone to retire or quit for promotions. Even grade changes provides no significant pay bump.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide raises.

    Cons

Limited growth of salary after 5 years. No growth in number of weeks of vacations after 10 years. No bonuses for a while. layoffs.

I worked at Oracle full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Pay is above average for the Orlando area
Most get the opportunity to work from home.
Training offered is better than some.

    Cons

Company is global and is focusing on hiring outside the US
Even though the margin is very high, this company is bent on increasing their margin every quarter, even at the expense of their employees and customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus a little time and cash flow on taking care of your employees. You will come out ahead in the long run. You are an American company, your actions have an impact here at home. Rethink your staffing strategy.

I have been working at Oracle

    Pros

employer stability, outstanding medical benefits, ability to work from home, most managers have done the job I'm doing, relaxed workplace, career development options, our CEO is a tremendous visionary

    Cons

    (1) compensation from Oracle continues decline despite the financial success of the organization. (2) we continue to recruit leadership from organizations that are developmentally behind us so we keep going back and doing things that didn't work before, we relabel it as something new and establish new processes, metrics and standards to do something that usually doesn't add any value then it dies off in 6 months. (2b) I'm frustrated with continually getting new leadership that refuses to acknowledge our past corporate experience (it seems) that implement new things that take us noplace and demand more and more from the teams without giving anything back. Because of this I left a job that was meaningful to me to make more money doing something I don't believe in. (3) We establish new processes sometimes that have a great idea and potential to improve things but they get warped by politics into something useless. (4) Performance is not a driver for compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

value your employees, acquire leadership that truly cares about the health of the organization...not just sales people. Make performance relevant to compensation and you will build employee loyalty. We need to continue to be more proactive in our provision of tremendous resources to our customers.
