Pros – * Work Life Balance is awesome, except for cases when you are working for a manager who doesn't understand what are the benefits of working for Oracle.
* A beautiful camps that is a landmark of Silicon Valley. It is very well maintained.
* Great Gymnasium.
* An aggressive CEO with a vision, a well defined market strategy, zeal to kill competition, and an innate capability of eeking out profit margins for the share holders.
Cons – * In many divisions of the business, employees are treated as resources, and not human beings.
* No culture to breed innovation from within Oracle. Innovation is happening at Oracle because of acquisition.
* Employees/Engineers have to create their own challenges, unless your division is under the focus of the office of the CEO.
* Teams stay together as a group for many many years. Hence no exposure to other team members with different skills.
* Managers typically lack skills to motivate and excite the teams and people. They work for themselves and promote themselves.
Advice to Senior Management – Not sure what to say... Culture starts from the top. Hopefully you can change it at your level.
