I have been working at Oracle

    Pros

    Huge company, really amazing people

    Cons

Cost cutting - company is cutting costs significantly, people are losing money left and right. Prior benefits have been rescinded (many people were hired on the promise of these benefits), people are being replaced with international transfers (majority from India it seems).

I have been working at Oracle

    Pros

Good name to have on your resume. Aggressive acquisition strategy.

    Cons

No raises, ever. The knowingly pay under market value and hire in outside talent for more money. They call getting promoted internally the "oracle penalty" as you're never paid what you're worth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management - pay your people. Our CTO now is worth $50B. Billion. Keep your people happy, give us a raise, it's been 4 years and not once have I receieved anything. Get creative, make it a stock bonus.

    Pros

Nice brand, good starting compensation, very stable job if you have a family.

    Cons

Its not a high growth company, very political, and its more of a sales company than a technology company these days

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Benefits
    -Sales Training
    -Good name on the resume
    -Potential to make big $$$
-Class Of program was a great networking and learning experience

    Cons

    -Internal competition
    -Politics
    -Slow to innovate
    -Clueless management
-Sink or swim based on territory and field counterpart
-Completely disorganized internal structure (Oracle arbitrarily silos its sales orgs which breeds chaos)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Oracle Consulting is doomed to fail if it doesn't align itself with the software sales' strategies and Oracle's overall strategic direction. The software sales teams view OCS as incompetent, expensive and disorganized. I have personally lost hundreds of thousands of dollars due to OCS just not having it together. The business model behind upgrading on premise software and expensive integrations is coming to an end, and OCS has to adapt to survive. Servicing more cloud products and increasing collaboration between disparate orgs is the first step to growing the services side of the business in my opinion.
