    Pros

As a student, it was great having a job located on the campus. It allowed me to spend more time on studies, and provided a way for me to give back to my school.

    Cons

Minimum wage, lack of benefits, no room for growth in career.

    Advice to Management

More perks and benefits for being a student employee.

    Pros

There is a fantastic sense of community among staff members. Those working at the university feel a deep sense of satisfaction knowing they are making a difference in the lives of students & are a part of a strong mission/vision.

    Cons

The higher levels of administration are not in touch with the needs of students or students/faculty/staff. They are out of touch & tend to make rash decisions at a moment's notice. There is a prevailing culture of fear among faculty & staff that they could be fired at any moment.

    Advice to Management

I would encourage management to begin actually listening to the needs of students/faculty/staff and not just conducting "listening tours." Trust those under you to make decisions and resist the urge to micromanage.

    Pros

People you work with become like family. The mission and vision is important and keeps you passionate.

    Cons

Difficult work/life balance as it is treated like a ministry at times. Lots of red tape around their processes. Things take forever to go through due to micro managing. Low pay.

    Advice to Management

Don't let one person's initiatives take over the entire place and commit every ounce of resource you have to carrying it out. Trust people to do their jobs effectively. Come up to institutional standard on pay and compensate for people's loyalty through the years.

    Pros

The pros left with the last administration

    Cons

Current senior management has all but deserted ORU in favor of globalization. Alumni and parents are scratching their heads.

    Advice to Management

    Be transparent.

    Pros

I was younger when I worked at ORU. I was in the admissions office and took on several roles including being a temporary Office Manager, but I enjoyed it very much for the most part.

    Cons

My only complaint would be that the manager of the department cried too easily and often. Personally, I believe that even when things are difficult, especially the manager should maintain some sort of control over ourselves. Another thing would be, the head counselor was always asking me to prepare long reports, but he always took full credit for it instead of me like it should have been.

    Advice to Management

I never met anybody in the upper management other than my manager while there.
