Current Employee - Senior Engineer in Orlando, FL

    Pros

Not Applicable. Casual attire working environment does nothing to compensate the unprofessionalism and lack of leadership.

    Cons

Micro managing by middle management, poor leadership and communication, high turn over rate, targeting of certain employees, backstabbing, lack of equipment and resource allocation. Unprofessional, hostile working environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

OLCC is by far the worst place I've ever worked. Complete lack of leadership at all levels. Excessive micromanagement and backstabbing by non management personnel. Disgusting facility, insufficient resources and equipment to perform essential job functions.

I would highly advise against anyone accepting a highlevel position there.

As a Sr. Engineer I was immediately targeted as a threat by other non management team members within a week. The tension at the workplace could be cut with a knife as employees didn't have the resources or processes necessary to perform their jobs.

Multiple team members that hated each other and controlling micromanaging BA SCRUM master. Team members swearing and arguing in the IT department. I was frowned upon and became an easy target when I addressed this type of behavior as unacceptable to a non hostile working environment.

Thank the lord they found me to be, 'not a great fit' as I probably would've ended up throwing myself off the second story balcony had I continued to have to deal with the childish, insecure, sociopathic behavior displayed by some of the individuals on their IT staff.

It took me more than two weeks to get close to acquiring the equipment resources I needed to effectively do my job at which point I still didn't have what I needed.

The last engineer that had my position before me actually just got up and left without notice or coming back. The first day I got there the Product Manager resigned clearly because of conflict from aggressive micro managing middle management. Very high turn over rate.

Many large national IT Staffing companies have chosen not to work with OLCC due largely in part to their unprofessional conduct and poor reputation.

    Run!

Orange Lake does a tremendous job of creating a workplace for employees to feel like they are a part of the family. The resort is always booming with business so there is never a slow moment. Orange Lake believes alot in bettering education through Tuition Assistance, Online Langauge Classes.

    Cons

Since it is a such a big resort it is hard for people to sometimes be overlooked.

Could have been a wonderful work experience but local leadership led through intimidation and threats

    Pros

    Financially stable company
    Basic benefits
Co-workers were great to work with
Great company culture at the Corporate office and sales center in Orlando

    Cons

Local company culture (Las Vegas) was not consistent with corporate company culture
Sr. leadership led through intimidation and threats instead of mentoring and leading by example.
Wages are low compared to counterpart positions in other similar companies
Health insurance employee match was expensive and using a poor insurance provider.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Orlando corporate management should see and understand that when a sales facility is having difficulty, they should look at the leader instead of being lead on a witch hunt to find a suitable subordinate to place blame of failure.
I would make recommendation for the company but not with current leadership

    Pros

Working at Orange Lake you get great benefits and the starting pay isn't bad at all, it's one of the best paid Front Desks in the Orlando area. The partnership with Holiday Inn Vacations means you get discounts to all the IHG hotels. It's a beautiful and huge property, driving in to work every morning you get to see all the golf courses and lakes. They have a bunch of activities for employees like a Christmas Gala and appreciation BBQs. You can also buy discounted lunches from the restaurants on site, and you get a discount on a lot of places around the area with your ID.

    Cons

Work ALL the weekends. Work ALL the Holidays. They are NOT kidding about that. Timeshare check ins are mostly Friday, Saturday and Sundays and it get's really busy around the holidays, not uncommon to have over 800 check ins in a single day. It's really hard to get a weekend off, but not impossible. They also hire mostly everyone as "Seasonal" which means you aren't actually eligible for benefits like holiday pay or health insurance, but if you do a good job there is opportunity to stay on in the company. There is a lot of pressure to get good scores on guest's surveys from upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The resort needs a lot of updates in how it's managed and in Computer systems.

    Pros

    hours, benefits and that all

    Cons

If you're not the right person you're not going to grow with this company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow those people who bust their hump and are told they are 'star performers' 'rock star' to grow and prove themselves. A change of mgt might be helpful so some of those 'star performers', 'rock stars' who are left in one spot to ROT can prove themselves further.

    Pros

Good Benefits, Annual pay reviews, Always hiring. Lots of growth in the past 5 years and more to come, advancement opportunities.

    Cons

Most departments dont pay very well, they dont post the pay rates online for this reason. Small company that is growing to more of a corporation, they are still adjusting and the process is very unorganized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your policies together and organized before you purchase more resorts and appreciate the employees who have been there from the beginning.
