I have been working at Orange Lake Resorts

    Pros

Company seems to be growin so there is lots of potential to move up. Pay is weekly which I really like. Lots of staff recognition.

    Cons

The property is so big and right now they have staffs using the back gate to enter, from there it can take as much as 20 mins to get to main area, especially if you are stuck behind a golf cart or such and there is no consideration for this if you are tardy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hurry with employee entrance construction.

    Cons

Commission based position with many ways to make money but you better understand what they are or you won't get paid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve training to prepare new employees for the commission pay standards

I worked at Orange Lake Resorts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The top management likes to drink, be belligerent to staff and create an unpleasant work environment where you feel your job is in jeopardy daily. Openly showing dislike for mid level team members is unprofessionalism at its finest. Slapped on the wrist and sent back to terrorize staff. Nice !!!!

    Cons

The biggest con is not fully understanding the pros listed above until after you have been hired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive level needs to look deeper than the expected visits they make and really see how this place runs.

I worked at Orange Lake Resorts (more than a year)

    Pros

    Close to home
    Better than minimum wage
    Customers are generally pretty nice
    Somewhat flexible

    Cons

    Poor management
    No room for growth
    Little training
Will consider employees seasonal, even if they work for over a year at 20-30 hours a week.
Will not give raises to "seasonal" employees after a year.
No call in procedure, not allowed to have sick days.
No breaks for shifts less than 8 hours in length.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have supplies necessary we need to do our jobs. Give raises to employees who stay longer than a year. Stop being so lazy, get out of the office and help your staff when they need it.

I have been working at Orange Lake Resorts

    Pros

So far the fact that In-House Marketing is a four day work week.

    Cons

Very difficult to get the top spot where you can make a great salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get real. Will update upon my return from Orange Lake.

I worked at Orange Lake Resorts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Excellent perks - Theme park tickets were the best!! Great holiday party and lots of family/employee centered events throughout the year.

    Cons

Some of the upper management was questionable. It seems that you really have to kiss up a little to get somewhere.

I have been working at Orange Lake Resorts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

full time hours available, Former bosses are better.

    Cons

MICRO-MANAGEMENT is an understatement in my opinion. OT is ONLY for the selected few and a tight lip is kept. Believe me if your not on the list you WON'T be ALLOWED to work overtime. Starting pay is below the local market for the same work. They move bosses around constantly and promote some people who are dating management. No promotion for the regular English speaking only folks or if you are extremely bright, know the business and are well qualified. This is a very diverse area with people from many walks of life and EVERYONE should have an Equal shot. There is no professional growth here. The perks "drawings" are scarce and is taxed out of your paycheck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back Mike and Julie. Stop treating highly productive people like 5 year olds and look at our abilities. Take in consideration the folks who have made a difference in their department and have expressed interest in promoted positions. In other words, treat ALL the SAME.

Only a few succeed but worth the struggle

I worked at Orange Lake Resorts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great culture and excellent work-life balance, when you're selling the money is fantastic

    Cons

Challenging to stay consistently in selling, many ups and downs, with the highs being very high but the lows being very low

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management does a good job motivating, having a draw build up during training so when you do finally hit the sales floor you owe $2,000 is difficult to overcome in the beginning but that could be different now
